Ooh that's great! I am very much interested with the book timeline. Though pretty early, but one area that I think many are confused is the "Relaunched" books. The timeline will greatly help in keeping everybody aligned as far as the Relaunched books are concerned.
And considering how we will never get anything Primeverse anymore, other than Star Trek Online (whose storyline is still under the complete control of CBS, so it's as far as canon Primeverse we will get), Relaunch could get the attention it needed as our secondary / "soft canon" source for the Primeverse.
Truth be told, I like the Relaunch Primeverse better than the story they approved for STO, and the timeline for Relaunch is confusing, there are just soo many books overlapping each other. :p
So yeah, timeline! (I'll help where I can.)

Timeline is something we definitely want to cover but as a general rule the publish date works well for the relaunch novels. I have been reading them as they come out so it is not so difficult for me, but I can certainly see how it would effect new readers. It is goal of mine to try and get more people into reading the relaunch novels so if people can say what their difficulty is such as timeline then that helps a lot.

Oh I'll monitor this project and I'd be happy to help. I own every ST novel published from 1970 to the mid-nineties. Is this going to be fiction only, and are we including the Blish and Foster adaptations?

To start with it will be fiction based Novels only, but if time and resources allow I hope to add in reference manuals and books at a later stage as there are not many of those.
Thankfully there are not many of these either and as they are fictional novels there is no problem including the TOS novelisations by James Blish or the TAS novelisations by Alan Dean Foster. It was my intention to do so anyway as most online resources sort by publisher which isn't very accurate if you want all books, the majority is Pocket books and has been since TMP but the older novels from the 60s are by different publishers Bantam and Ballentine.
