Well there have to be a few Doctor Who fans on the forums. Did anyone catch the first episode of the new series and if you did what were your thoughts?

Personally I thought the episode was quite good although I am not too sure on Matt Smith as the 11th Doctor. Behind the scenes and in interviews he has been talking about doing his own thing and being his own version of the Doctor but for the majority of the episode he seemed to be trying to be David Tennant's 10th Doctor.

I really enjoyed it, but I will miss The 10th Doctor. I wouldn't be surprised if Matt Smith's 11th Doctor slowly becomes his own unique personality, as there was obviously a lot of David Tenant-esque remarks. I think they did the same thing with the 9th Doctor to the 10th Doctor, where there were minor differences between the two, but slowly evolved into a unique character.

thats just matt smith, ive seen him in a few things and he does a similar thing. personaly i dont think he is as dark as David

I thought it was brilliant, I almost cried when Amelia pond sat there waiting for him. The plot was well written. Unfortunatley i'm gonna miss the nest episode.

I think that maybe he is going to phase it out and intergrate it into his own unique personality as all the doctors keep there old personality or some of it and it stays as part of them with there old personality.

It was a pretty good episode, you could tell they had new directors and producers though cause of the way the episode was shot and the CGI and stuff. Definatly wasn't Russell Davis style lol. I think its gonna be good, i was upset about the david tennant leaving but then again i was upset when eccleston leave and thought that tennant was crap lol, so i'm intrested in seeing how it goes. Also there was abit on the to be continues part when the new doctor shoots a gun, i think thats kinda weird since he has been described as the man who never carries weapons...sooo....i'll be intrested to see how that goes as well.

I think the bit in the trailers where he shoots the gun is there for shock value since The Doctor hates them so much. In the context of the episode he is probably firing a flare or its a cap gun or something

My main worry with the 11th Doctor and the fact that its a new production team is what links there will be to the 10th Doctor, I think the development of the 10th Doctor was excellent especially through the last few specials as they wrapped things up for him, I do hope that whilst the 11th Doctor becomes his own man his recent history will still have some impact on his character.

One thing I liked about the 10th Doctor was the number of subtle little hints about what was going to happen that when you looked back you spotted a lot quicker and really how most of the episodes in a series were building up to the series final, judging by a line delievered by the main villian in the first episode (see how I am not spoiling anything for anyone?) they perhaps aren't as subtle as they used to be.

And I do hope they don't use the 'Doctor Vision' much more struck me as a bit tacky.

They cut off all links to the tenth doctor in the final scenes of david tennants last episode, so there charectors wont be coming back and i think with the new writers they may use what happened but they might just sweep it away so that they can develop this one without the restraints of the old one. Also the mr Davies left as well so they wont be like the other 2. Which i think is annoying.

I really just wanna see how it goes really, sometimes you need a breath of fresh air to make it good

Indeed.

I like the new guy. I think the best I can say at this very early point is: he doesn't annoy me. Because, in all honesty, I saw the promotional shorts, read a bit in the papers, and was prepared to be exposed to some kind of teen-appeal-focussed thing. I'm happy to see it hasn't quite turned out that way.

the one thing im looking forward to is the development of River Song, you know, that person who said she knew the Doctor in series 4 and died

she is supposed to be in ep's 4 and 5, should be interesting

This appearence by River Song was referenced in the last series which makes me wonder if some of the other examples of her meeting The Doctor will feature the 11th Doctor. Should be interesting but I get the impression that this may be the first time (chronologically) she has met The Doctor.

Not too sure about the World War II episode. Daleks... again? So soon in a new series?

then the cult of skaro, who escaped
then they all blew up, caan went back to the time war
then davros appeared, crucibal destroyed

let me guess, he escaped and so did caan, just a guess lol

i swear, if more daleks survived than those, i will literally jump out of a window into a dog area

I am guessing they will have found a reason to explain away the Daleks surviving again. I suppose with the Time Lords bringing Gallifrey back at the end of the last season anyone that was stuck in the Time War could have got out.
