Thought I would introduce myself real quick.
My name is Mitch, but I go by Spilly in most games. I live just outside of Portland, Oregon and co-own a liquor store in Portland. Needless to say it's always an adventure. In addition to being a Trekkie for as long as I can remember, I am a huge college football fan and have been a Duck's season ticket holder for 5 years now but been going to games since I was in 3rd grade ( I am 31 BTW ). But enough of real life details.
I picked up STO at launch waaaay back in the day, but it didn't stick so I stopped at the end of free month. Recently got back into STO and am loving the stream lined episodes and progression. I am planning on going some sort of DPS Cruiser if that's possible. I've played all kinds of MMO's from Shadowbane to WoW to both Star Wars MMO's and most recently Elder Scrolls Online.

Welcome to the community, can't speak much on any form of sport myself, all I know is you need to score more points than your opponent, with the exception of golf, where you need less. But that aside, I can relate on the Star Trek stuff!

Hi Spilly and welcome to the community.
Ducks are normally the bad guys, but as long as you beat up the Trojans, I'm ok with your Ducks. 
As for DPS Cruisers, they are very viable and fun. My own "Beam Boat" was a wonder several seasons ago, particularly when the STFs were not split. But alas, I know there are several in the community who run cruisers who do incredible damage to the enemy, borg in particular.
