History in Other Star Trek Fleets
I have been an STO player since it was released in Australia back in 2010. Due to my employment, which I will not discuss here, I may find myself away for extended periods however I was told - and have read - that I may simply advise the chain of command of my absence. This will work in most cases however, I will let you all know now that there may be occassions where that will be next to impossible. I like Star Trek, I work on the STA3 mod (beta testing, string editing), I respect the chain of command and I am, for the most part, a team player.
I joined my first fleet, the Starfleet Marines in early 2011. Mid to late (the exact date eludes me) 2011 the fleet suffered from a fracture - several of the high ranking and veteran members of the fleet left, taking most of the contents of the vault with them. I thought I was good friends with one of the members who left but was not told of their intention - which disappointed me because a) there was absolutely nothing wrong with the way they were running Starfleet Marines and b) though I didn't know the member personally I would have thought he would have either let me know he was leaving or perhaps even asked if I would leave - I would have refused and probably attempted to lessen the damage that occurred, which may be why I wasn't included.
2012 was a write-off for me due to work. I was away from February through to early December. I then joined "The 101st", both Federation and Klingon divisions. They were a good fleet, very helpful and understanding of my occupation however there were very few people one at any one time, at least when I was on. I tried to chip in where and when I could however mid 2013 and again from Feb to Jun this year I was inactive due to work. They have now gone far beyond what they were before I left and I felt it unfair to reap benefits I had not worked on.
Are you currently a member of any other clans/guilds/fleets/groups that engage in Star Trek gaming?
No
How did you find out about us?
I was referred to this fleet by Bane and your rank structure, RP and presentation impressed me. The web designer and artists have done a very good job recreating the LCARS interface and I only noticed a few spelling and punctuation errors (they are only minor and I'd be happy to point them out if required). Were it not for the fact that Bane suggested I look into the UFP I would have stayed independent.
Have you read the UFP Code of Conduct and agree to abide by the fleet's rules, policies, and procedures?
Yes, I agree to abide by the fleet's rules, policies, and procedures.
Additional Comments
While I can take RP seriously, some times I just prefer to talk "smack" and play Trek. I do spout a few "colourful metaphors" however that's only over Skype or TS and among people I know won't take offence, I don't tend to type offensive language (again unless talking to someone I know won't take offence) and will "tone it down" if and when required. I'm not new to chain of command or MMOs in general and if a member of my chain of command is acting out of turn (from what I can see by Fleet presentation, I very much doubt it) I will warn them personally and inform their immediate supervisor - nothing I wouldn't do in my line of work. Sorry for writing a novel, I tend to get carried away writing how I would talk and writing is a hobby of mine. I look forward to hopefully working with, and being a member of, this fleet.
