Current tier 5 and Tier 5.5 ships and it Future

Now we all have heard that they are going to release tier 6 ships and so on.. My Question is has anyone hear anything about what going happen to Lobi ships (Like Elachi Battleships Tholian Recluse carrier ) or the Zen store ships that are tier 5 like the 50 dollar DSD pack ships or all those current end game pack ships and finally the Fleet ships like the Fleet Galaxy , Excelsior , etc. Are they going be upgrade able to tier 6 or are they going be totally useless when Delta Rising comes? Or are we totally screwed and that all the ships we currently have are useless and obsolete ?

They have said they intend for current tier 5 ships to be at least somewhat competitive and have mentioned at least some upgradability (though not all the way to T6), but they haven't mentioned any specifics.

I sure hope so, 'cause I don't feel like spending any more money, but it is possible some of them won't cost Zen, although that's highly unlikely.

The Jem'Hadar Attack Ship has been said to be automatically upgraded so probably all Lobi ships will be.

As for how T6 will happen, no one's really sure at this point. Mostly speculation and stuff.

They will be costing the real life money, unless you have the dilithium saved up to convert to Zen, the real kicker, Fleet Ships will also cost you to upgrade! I don't see the point in having a T5-U ship as they miss out on some of the features of the T6.

They get the ability to level up and scale HP with level as well as an 11th console slot which is good. I don't see not having access to the new boffs to be a huge problem; it's not much different than if you wan't a Cmdr Tac, fly and escort rather than a cruiser.

Not having traits sucks, but is probably minor.

The only real problem I am seeing is not getting and additional Boff ability slot. 13 abilites over 12 could be a significant advantage, though as I pointed before, it depends where the extra slot is going. A new ensign boff seat is fairly minor, but upgrading a Lt to and LtC is a pretty big improvement.

Cryptic hit upon a couple of big reasons right at the start of the blog: The investment of time and money and the emotional attachment many players have with their T5 ships. What are T5U ships really missing out on anyway? Let's have a look based on info currently to hand.

I think the only way that Cryptic an keep T5 ships "competitive" at the T5-U level is if that extra BOFF seat isn't adding a LT.Cmd or Cmd level ability. If it does, T5-U ships will not be able to stay on the same level as T6 ships, period.

If the above is true (BOFF ability is at a Ensign or Lt level), the starship trait isn't a huge-must-have passive ability, and the specialist BOFF falls in line like the extra BOFF seat then T5 could indeed stay competitive. NOT equal, but at least competitive.

Alas, we still don't have the full picture yet.

Oh hey, That would be a good subscriber perk, reduced cost for upgrading starships. Paying 250 zen per ship wouldn't be unreasonable, but 500 zen or 1000 zen per ship is not something I'd be willing to do in most circumstances.

With regards to starship traits, special boffs and other features: I really wish they would just come out with as much information as soon as possible. The little drops of information they are doing with these redacted tags are not all that useful. It's just creating more questions which are getting people nervous.

It's Cryptic, it's pretty much a given that what you are missing out on is going to be over powered, that's how they work, seen it time and again unfortunately. I wish I wasn't so sceptical but I can't help it, burnt too many times.

The Federation T6 ship looks ugly, but I'll fly it if it's the better ship around, I'm not one to care much for looks on a ship, I was flying the Breen ship around for a while.

I honestly kind of like new T6 ship design, it's new and different that what we're usually used to seeing. Although it is a strange looking ship...

They ARE coming out with more than just the 3 ships they have shown. Maybe there's a less hideous option for T6.

One thing to keep in mind we will get more ships in the future. Some of them might suck right now and I am not upgrading to T6. How ever if they bring more designs out that look like Starfleet ships for example Saucer,Warp Pylons and nacelles. Hull with roundish deflector then I would maybe do so.
