Just seen this on Engadget and just had to share all we need now would be one shaped like a com badge and its jobs a goodun, oh that and a transporter.

Wouldn't mind a replicator as well...

A combadge isn't something I would make use of day to day, since I hardly ever use a phone to talk to someone, only use it for internet and occasional texts. I'm sure those more active on their phones will make better use out of this gadget

While I can certainly see the appeal, I can also see someone using this in restaurants, theaters, or just generally in public where other people don't want to hear it.

I already have enough 'customers' walking in 'talking' on a hands free blue-tooth device getting snotty with my staff for interrupting their 'conversation' by saying hello...

Having said that, it could have some decent uses, as long as we eventually develop the social etiquette to go with it.

I love new technology. Sometimes I continue to love it once its released to the public. Such was not the case with the flip phone. I remember looking at them and the child in me yelling "It's just like Star Trek!" Well a few trips to the theater and the charm faded fast. Such will likely be the case with these. Even if they design one to look and sound like a TNG comm badge, the moment someone gets an urgent "hail" from "Starfleet" when the movie has just begun I'll want to rip it off their shirt and stomp it into dust.

Still, maybe its just where I live, but people do seem to be more considerate with their phones lately so maybe it won't be so bad.

Why didn't you like the flip phone? That beauty allowed me to live out a TOS dream! Of course, in that dream Scotty didn't sound like my mom, but I digress.

I liked my own, but began to dislike them in general because other people seemed to like them too much. I remember flipping mine open and saying "Beam me up Scotty" more than once. And in my dream my mom didn't sound like Scotty.
