Ah, A TED speech. TED is awesome. Not to go off-topic, but there are many crazy TED videos out there as well, such as Clifford Stoll's video "18 Minutes with an Agile Mind". It's quite... entertaining and fascinating.
But anyhow, personally, I do believe there is other life out there in the universe and in this galaxy perhaps. It's a shame that our sun is so distant from many other stars in the galaxy. What I mean is that our solar system is sort of between two of the arms of our galaxy...though this may be sort of a good thing in that we are sort of isolated from the 'high density zone' of the arms, so the chances of a GRB or something similar happening are lower since we're in a rather sparse area of the galaxy.
The mission is, and always will be, the journey itself.

It is no longer speculation et life does exist. Microbes on mars etc it may not be intelegent or even sencient but it's life non the less. However judgeing by the narrow window for earth like planets I summise that there are trillions of civiliseations out there. But most will be at our state of development I doubt that any are more advanced because. the only viable form of FTL travel is by createing an artifical wormhole or a matter antimatter reaction therefore the only et's that may have visited earth used one of those two methords and seen as the universe is too young for wormholes to be in abundence and too old for antimatter to be around for very long it is highly unlikely that we have been visited therefore we can assume that because we are probably the noisyest planet in the galaxy ( radio lights us up like times square) and no one has come to take a look that ET does not have ftl cabilities or the ability to navigate the cosmos so therefore is probaby at our stage if development.

With the vastness of space... how could it be possible, with all those other planets....... that there is no life?

For clarification, what piece of evidence says there's microbes on Mars? I understand the background story, but as far as I'm aware it was only a theory.

In the ice on Mars. Tiny (Yet dead) micro organism's were found. Unless I'm mistaken they could have only been fossils. This was something I typed in a very tired state I apologise if its a little weird

I know I may regret asking this question but I'm going to ask it anyways. Why do you disagree with the whole evolution theory??
