I am looking forward to what's to come, both the newsletter and podcast sound like great ideas, my question on interviews is, are we going to be doing some more community ones as well? Such as interviewing people from within the UFP, I think that could be interesting and fun for those involved!
The chances of those happening are slim, the number of views in which they accumulate has always been quite low, however never say never.

Just out of idle curiosity, what sort of news posts get the most views? I don't mean this as criticism, I am honestly very curious. It also may give a reflection on which types of forum posts are most likely read, and therefore could be useful elsewhere as well.
As for this article (Which I probably should have started with), I do so love the idea of a podcast. I do hope that takes off

I'm a steady listener of a couple of STO related podcasts, so I'll be looking forward to listening to UFP's. I'm pleased to hear it's in the works.

I really like what I am seeing here, these developments look exciting!

Always enjoyed those internal interviews myself, though i'll accept that i'm probably in a minority of readers. I've noticed that the problem with "big STO news" parse is that FNS never seem to be either 1. breaking the news or 2. commenting on the news in any different way than those who actually broke the news.
Before this is possibly taken the wrong way I should emphasize that, as many of you know, I have always been a big supporter of UFP News in all its forms from FNN to FNS. It's just in my opinion, our news isn't as good, exciting and informative as it could be. And since there is a request for feedback I thought I would at least attempt to give mine constructively.
So if possible in 2015 when there is a something new in STO I would like to hear what our experts think. I don't want to have to scroll down to the comments section to realise how this will affect my gaming experience. Which is what I usually do at the moment. Talk of a series get two or three conflicting views of what people think about this. Mr Halsey (for example) always seems to have interesting things to say when it comes to Trek on the big screen. I would like critical analysis on each piece of news.
I think the direction of quantity needs to be steered towards quality. Originality. Though it will be interesting seeing what A. You think and what b. Other members think.
p.s. looking forward to the podcast, we've been waiting for this for quite some time

Glad to see FNS moving forward and with a good plan, and happy to see no more community interviews, while they can be fun, it agree it's not a great direction for the FNS. The more good articles that bring in outside readers, the more chance people will join UFP!

Thanks for sharing that. If you don't mind a few follow up questions, as I'm genuinely curious.
- Is that measured by clicks? Is replies taken into account as well, or even reputation points for the writer, as I can see a ratio showing engagement.
- Is time proving to be a big factor? IE Breaking STO news from primary sources, rather than say from Reddit or STOForums. This could be a pain to track, but I figure checking the FNS article versus the Dev blog post concerning it would at least give a time frame (Ie. Do people loose interest after the 'great reveal' or are people interested in seeing FNS' side of things).
- Are any particular authors' or writing styles being picked up on more than others?
Sorry for the barrage of questions. Honestly just really curious more than anything. AS I mentioned earlier, things that work for FNS could be put to practice for other divisions as well.
Thanks again!
Super late on replying to this, busy few weeks.
It's measured by the number of views that an article attains, taking comments into account wouldn't change the overall popularity of article types. In terms of time, that only becomes an issue for STO related articles as if we don't jump on the story within a few hours of it breaking then the numbers suffer, however with other articles like generic trek articles time only becomes an issue when it's big news and we're against the clock to be one of the first to cover it, which has been the case a few times. Writing styles and authors isn't really something that draws in the readers, more so it's the topic of the article.
Hopefully this helps, however I doubt any of it will assist other areas, FNS is quite unique in that sense.
