Building the Millennium Falcon!

So, a couple of weeks ago, a couple of you guys expressed interest in seeing how the 'Build The Millennium Falcon' would go.

I picked up the second issue today and thought I'd start sharing the process with you wonderful peoples.

As there isn't a massive amount of things to do with each issue, I'll only be updating this thread every 2 or 3 weeks.

So, here's a photo of the items that came with issue 1:

Starting in the top right, it came with:

The rear of the bridge (it did have a separate sticker, but I had already applied it),
The base of the bridge,
some screws,
2 parts of the frame of the ship,
the top and bottom of the quad-cannons,
part of the hull, and lastly,
in the middle is the mount and brackets for the quad-cannons.

There wasn't exactly a large amount of assembly to do with these limited parts, only to assemble the quad-cannons:

So then, in issue 2, there was a few more parts that actually made for a small amount of assembly:

So the parts that came in this issue were:

Mainly screws and parts of the frame,
the main control console from the bridge,
the hologame table,
the top of the hull where the quad-cannons will be mounted, and,
a screwdriver!

The first thing I wanted to do was to start assembling the frame. This included the parts from issues 1 and 2:

After the frame, there was only stickers to be applied:

I'm thinking of renaming this thread to 'Building The Millennium Falcon! Very Very Slowly'

Nah, it's just like building Ikea furniture: You're supposed to have parts left over.

Ok, so I thought I'd give a quick update on the progress for those that are interested and aren't building it

We've just had issue 7 and finally complete the interior of the ♥♥♥♥pit, including the LED cluster:

We've also got the ♥♥♥♥pit exterior and the neck to the rest of the ship:

Not much has been done on the rest of the ship, but the frame has been extended slightly and the covering attached:

We've also started work on the main hold, with the couch and bunks being assembled:

That's all for now, I'll stick on another update when some more progress has been made

Very nice Fallen. How long is it going to take to complete the entire project? A year? Or more?

And are the articles from the magazine any good?

It's 100 weekly issues, so nearly 2 years, and at £8.99 an issue it's rediculously priced, but meh lol. The articles are pretty good, they give you insights into how the original was created and goes through the planets in the Star Wars universe.
