    I'm both elated by the fact that there will be a Star Trek 3 movie, and at the same time can't help but wish we could round up the TNG or DS9 cast for one more run. Scotty's joke's in the past 2 reboot movies were OK, but if the whole movie is scripted like that I'm not sure I'll be able to sit through the whole movie. *crosses fingers*

    On the plus side, the writing is in the hands of an actual Star Trek fan. Last time it happened was also terrible, but folks seem to have a short memory for it, so maybe it'll work out this time.

    I have still not watched Into Darkness to the end. Thankfully a friend spoiled the ending for me so I did not have to watch that abomination.

    So from my point of view, new writers are very welcomed and even if it turns out to have more comedic elements in it, that's not so bad. Star Trek IV was pretty funny.

    Pegg is both a great actor and a great writer. The question is whether he captures what Star Trek can and should be and just how much freedom he is given as a co-writer. But let's be honest here, he can't do a worse job on that than Abrams, so the worst case is probably just a more light-hearted movie. And that would at least be a decent change from whatever that previous mess was supposed to be.

    The bar is pretty low for Pegg, so even if it isn't a home run, I think it'll at least put runners on base in anticipation of the next one. I think he'll at least make sure the film feels like a Star Trek film. Unlike say another generic sci-fi movie.

    Pegg, only a co-writer, will doubtless not be the sole guy responsible for the greatness or the abomination that will be this third reboot film. So I'll reserve judgment until we can actually see some proof as to the direction is going to take. Anyways, with the departure of Abrams, Orci, etc... pretty much leaves the fate of the franchise as we know it up in the air. So I have to say it's a wait and see for me. If anything, I hope it'll be at least entertaining.
