    Heh, in my defense, I am not one of the guys slotting projects. In fact, I've never been one of the guys slotting projects Big Grin

    Only reason I have any real opinion on it at all is I have seen the hours poured into sorting the starbases by dozens of people now, all trying to satisfy the needs of as many people as possible. It is a miserable and largely thankless job where you can never be 'right', and all you can hope for is 'good enough'. I know those folks would love love LOVE to be able to slot projects and plans that keep everyone happy. An endless pit for Fleet marks where fleet members just simply get credits would make them, the logistics officers and battle officers I mean, so unbelievably happy.

    I really wish there was a way to make everyone happy.

    Man, I've got literally over three dozen civilians hanging around my ship, and you guys never slot civilian projects. Confused
    "Host Multicultural" which is slotted on both UFP 1st and 2nd in the special projects area of the Starbase is always refreshed - and requires civilian DOffs.

    This project has been slotted since December 2014 constantly.

    I know that one - it takes all of ~8 Civilians thanks to our discount.

    Speaking of 2nd Fleet here, but the Civilians fill up in like 5 minutes max. The ~17 generic Non-Civilians stalls because there's currently Medical/Tactical projects up, so basically we're just shoving our remaining Engineering DOffs in there.

    Can't we rotate in the occasional Coordinate Colonization Efforts? Seriously, I can fill over half of the ~63 Civilians required myself, and (judging by the competition for the Host Multicultural Symposium quota) I'm sure there's a ton of others with excess Civilians.

    Still think its a bad idea, i've been dumping Dil into the fleet Constantly like mad until craptic took away mobile phone payment feture, ask Three or Ash the amount of DIL only things they would do so i could dump and move me between ALL fleet so i can help projects, i feel this is unwise and will end up costing some of us hard workers Fleet Credits

    I'm going to leave this thread on this note. I HOPE that the leadership is open to re-evaluating this decision after about a month. I have a feeling that the donations to 1st and 2nd fleet are not going to change all that much and if anything create frustration among players that have over 5+ toons that they play regularly.

    I also feel like you are creating more work for people because there will be more and more fleet invite requests/transfers due to having to bring the 3rd fleet toons to 1st or 2nd do donate and then back to 3rd.

    My federation toons are all currently seconded to another fleet, so not having visibility on the UFP situation, I won’t speak to the wisdom of this decision.

    I will make the following points, however:

    DOFFs: I’ve never understood why these fill up so slowly when there are a number of avenues that can be taken to obtain the common DOFFs required for fleet projects.
    (Remember when some projects required UNCOMMON (green) ones?).
    I’m in the position of having 13 toons at Lvl 50 or higher. I am almost constantly cycling the recruitment assignments obtained at both academies and Romulan Command. Best guess, this nets me roughly 35-40 a week.

    Also, as I only allow my toons to have 200 DOFFs (why anyone would need the maximum 500 is a bit beyond me) I have to have cleanouts of excess DOFFs quite often. For this, I use the ‘exchange officer’ missions, also found at the academies/RRF command. For those who don’t know, these assignments are 10 second quickies where you put in 1 DOFF of uncommon or rarer quality and receive 3 DOFFs if the next quality down in return. Grinding greens down in this way can nets me about 40-50 whites every time I do it. Last but not least, whites are usually about only 20-25k EC on the exchange.

    Also:
    • Romulans can double dip. A KDF-Rom can use both RRF command and Klingon academy, for example.
    • Projects do not discriminate by DOFF faction: i.e. KDF DOFFs can be put into FED projects and vice versa. Thus, they can funnelled to toons needing fledits by way of the mail system.


    Dilithium:
    Discussion point: If everyone was doing what I’ve outlined above, would there be a need to slot projects requiring it? (other than provisioning?).

    Fleet credits (fledits):
    Yes, there are issues with the design and yes, large fleets like this one have issues with that design as a consequence. That being said, there are hundreds of smaller fleets out there who have trouble getting enough fleet marks. If you find yourself with a large surplus of fleet marks, jump into one of the public service channels and ask. You could also extend an olive branch to any fleet on good terms with UFP. Mush might be able to help you out there.

    Note that you will have to leave the UFP fleet in order to dump them, but the systems in place here make it easy enough to get back in. However I would suggest you save your other resources exclusively for UFP fleets and by way of courtesy to the officers who have to process fleet invite requests, don’t jump ship and come back every two days.

    A bit of a novel I’ve written here, but I’ve got a lot of experience ‘working the system’ as far as fleet assets and their workings are concerned. Plus I’ve eaten into some downtime at work as a bonus.
