This is my current build for the Tempest.

Because the tail gun is Phaser, I am contemplating going to a Phaser build just for kicks and giggles. I'm only going to run PVE with it anyway and I think it would be kinda cool to have a phaser ship again.

Anyway, I got to looking at various builds on the STO Academy and came across this interesting build.

It claims, by the title, that it is a 50K build with phasers. My question to our build masters is whether or not this is truly possible. Secondly, since I would imagine that if it is true it comes with a steep cost, what would be a good way to go with phasers on this particular ship?

Possible, yes.

This build hinges on Reciprocity, which means you need the Phantom, as well as Marion, a Leech, and a Phaser Omni. Not cheap.

Your Tac ability cooldowns are dependant on having aggro so that Reciprocity takes your Tac cooldowns down. Not easy, you need to be the most threatening thing there.

I certainly wouldn't be able to pull 50k with it, I'm not a good enough pilot.

If you build it as an A2B dual or single beam boat i think it is definetly possibly - especially if you use that nadeon bomb wisely.

I mean you could run FAW3, APB3 and EPtW3 on global cooldown plus - depending on your build - DEM2.

You weren't the only one!! I had to scroll over it and make sure it wasn't, lol.

I honestly don't know if I want to spend the time, EC, dilithium, or even just flat out energy to work on all of that. Seriously, it's taken forever to get the two ships I do have spec'd out and I don't really want to go through any more, lol.

Mm, CSV will give you better DPS than CRF in almost all situations. You're going to be pissing everything off with FAW anyway...

Personally, I would prefer DBBs fore, so you could go TT1/APB1/FAW3/APO3.
(APB is there to alternate with APO, because APO won't cooldown fast enough to sync with FAW.)
FAW3 + APO3 with DBBs = Awesome.

You may want RSP2 in place of DEM2, if you turn out to be too squishy. With the new BOff system, that's an easy thing to toggle.

Here's a question...

I use keybinds on this build. What should the order of my abilities be kicked into gear? I'm using an A2B build.

Currently I have the following firing order...

TT, CSV3, APB1,FAW3, A2B1, EptW2, DEM2, Eng Fleet 3, Subspace Field Modulator, EPS Power Transfer 3

Is that a good order or should I rearrange it?

Essentially yes, or at least bound to one key. In my case, I have them bound to the number 3 key on my keyboard and other abilities on other keys. Basically so I can quickly cycle through 4 or 5 keys on various abilities.

Tapping spacebar repeatedly is a bit awkward and makes me feel like I have a nervous twitch.

Affecting just two Omni arrays FAW doesn't matter much at all. Drop it to FAW2 and bump APB1 to APB2.

The abilities you've listed should not be placed on the same key.

Things you can put on a spam key, to fire whenever they're off cooldown: TT, A2B1, EptW2
This you can put on the same key, but not spam: CSV3, APB1, DEM2, EPS.

No idea when you'd want to use FAW, it'd just piss off things in a 360 radius. If you used BO you'd be able to put it on the CSV key.

The reason we wouldn't spam the CSV key is because EPS is on there - the first time you fire it off is the strongest. I actually wouldn't put EPS/Nadion on there at all, and fire it off separately.

Eng Fleet 3, Subspace Field Modulator shouldn't be randomly fired. They're not reduced by A2B Techs. Use when healing/toughness is necessary.

So if I take off EPS, Eng Fleet 3, and Subspace Modulator...putting them elsewhere...is there a problem running CSV3, APB1, DEM2, and BO on their own key?

or does CSV and BO need to be on their own regardless?

Those four have cooldowns in multiples of 15, so you can have them on the same key. It's just FAW that has a min cooldown of 20s, and thus can't be grouped with them unless you want to delay CSV, or have 1/3rd less FAW.

I switched FAW3 to APB2 and switched APB1 to BO2. I also regrouped the other powers as you suggested. Seems to get a better response now.
