Hey guys,
I am not sure whether any of you are aware, but the next release for the popular Homeworld 2 mod, Star Trek: Continuum, has just been released. Previously the mod only had the Federation, Klingon, and Romulan factions within the TNG era, but the next release - release Gamma - was brought out yesterday.
What is Homeworld 2?
Hoemworld 2, in my opinion, is one of the best space RTS games ever, mainly due to it's 'realistic' system and it's beautiful physics and graphics, for the time it was released. It was originally released back in 2003, and remains one of the most advanced space RTS games of all time, and within the next few days, will have a remastered version released on Steam.
Whilst the game isn't on the same scale as Sins of a Solar Empire, it is still amazingly complex and well built. The scale of the game is more within 1 map, which varies in size based on the number of players it can support, any video about Homeworld 2 would give you a better idea on what the game is like, as I can't give it justice.
What is Star Trek: Continuum?
Star Trek: Continuum is one of the best Star Trek mods I have ever played, with the advanced engine that the Homeworld game is build on it is ideal for a space RTS game. When I play this mod, I get the most realistic Star Trek feeling I have experienced in an RTS game, with a 4D space map, the use of warp drive, and a realistic Star Trek feel.
With all of these factors, Homeworld 2 provides the ideal platform, for a great Star Trek RTS game, and is definitely worth checking out! The latest release has also introduced the ENT, TOS, and TMP eras - alongside TNG - for the 3 main races. For a more detailed overview of the mod and it's features, check the links below. The video linked below is of the build prior to the latest one, but should give a good overview of the mod.
I did give the latest release a play last night, and found that the improvements and additions made have made the whole experience a lot more fun for me, and remains my favourite Star Trek mod of all time. The sole thing which makes me differ on that opinion, is the multiplayer. For some time now, the original Homeworld 2 multiplayer system has been annoying, to say the least, as you'd have to be incredibly lucky to finish a game off, as the game is prone to all the players becoming 'out of sync' and cause the game to crash. Hopefully, the remastered version won't have this issue, but only time will tell.

So is this mod compatible with the new remastered versions? I heard that it's getting workshop love, so hopefully this mod will make it on there and be easier to install...
I never played the series, so I preordered it and I'm looking forward to trying it. I won't hop into any mods immediately, but I'll definitely check them out. Thanks!

Well at the very least, it should be easy to make it work with the remaster if it doesn't, since they said they want to make the remaster mod friendly (in fact, a few of the staff are from prominent HW2 mod communities)

Yea, I was reading through their mod description, and the next goal is to make it work with the remastered version. It looks really neat, I'll have to try it!

This mod won't work on release, but the creators are focusing on the remastered version now 
HW2 itself is an unreal game, as it said in the description, the best space RTS game I've ever played

The best space RTS game I've ever played

I was reading an article on the remastered version last night, sounds like the graphics are getting a nice upgrade. We're also losing some of the original music due to licensing issues and sadly, the same mission bugs are still present in the new version.
I own the entire Homeworld series, still one of my favorite games of all time.

I'm playing through the Homeworld campaign right now, and I'm having issues trying to finish off level 2. Apparently, if you build a bunch of corvettes and try to attack the enemy before they tell you to, the game crashes... But I know they're coming!!! >.<

Just thought I'd report back...
I've beaten Homeworld and I'll start Homeworld 2 over Spring Break I think... It's a REALLY fun game. It's really buggy too, so I'm hoping they patch it up. I would like to try it again and not have the game freak out at me. During mission 2, trying to kill that carrier I think was the hardest part of the game for me.
