Hello, everyone. I just joined UFP a few days ago & I'm very pleased to be part of this community!!!!!

I've been away from STO for several years - but I was involved in the beta & I also purchased the game when it initially released.
I enjoyed it enough for several months & signed up for a lifetime subscription. But a few months later, I lost my excitement for this game & started playing other games (mostly on PS3). I thought that I would eventually return to STO.

However, I was deeply touched by the passing of Leonard Nimoy. I'm "kinda old skool" - (53 years old) & greatly enjoyed watching the reruns of the original Star Trek TV series as a teenager. I grew to respect & admire the character of Spock. Mr.Nimoy's death was a "wake-up call" that life is short & none of us are getting any younger.

I was greatly impressed by the fact that STO had setup a memorial for Mr. Nimoy.

So now, I'm back into STO & overwhelmed by all of the changes & new features. I'm particularly perplexed about the following subjects:
- how to train bridge officers to either learn new abilities or max out one of their current abilities;
- DOFFs:
a) how to max out one of their abilities;
b) how to train them in a new ability;
- how to improve my performance in space combat - especially how to configure the "ability trays" so that they're easy to use during tough battles. I'm not sure if configuring keybinds would help me out or not.
c) R& what are some good tips & hints for beginners like me?
d) how to be a good fleet member (what should I contrubute in terms of currencies or items to the Fleet Bank)?

Hiya Tholian and welcome to the community.

The passing of Mr. Nimoy was sad, but as a community we were able to honor him in our own way and in STO.

As for the STO questions, I'll defer to someone who is more knowledgeable. I haven't really played in a year.

Did you get the answers to the above STO questions yet?

I know that some (if not most) of the above is in some post in the Helps-and-Tips section of Earth Stardock.

Regarding item D, you will find that here - Fleet Bank section.

If you still don't find the answers or information that you are seeking, you could start a new thread in one of those forums. Our resident STO guru's are sure to see the questions and provide some feedback.
