Game: Star Wars: The Old Republic

Mission Outcome:This weekend we decided to take another swing at Dread Palace, an Operation we'd had some success with previously, but weren't able to finish due to time constraints. This time, since it was only the five of us, we ended up picking up 3 pugs via Group Finder.

For those who aren't familiar, Dread Palace is the culmination of a storyline begun with the release of the Sith Dread Masters from their prison on Belsavis, and then continued in the Scum and Villainy Op on the planet Darvannis, the Oricon storyline missions, the Dread Fortress operation, and finally the Dread Palace.

Dread Palace is divided into 5 boss fights, over the course of which you face the 4 surviving Dread Master individually, and then as a group alongside the spirit of Dread Master Brontes and the reincarnation of Dread Master Styrak as a Kell Dragon.

We ran into a bit of trouble with the second fight, with it's falling floor puzzle and ground hazards, but eventually we got the hang of it and took down Tyrans. The fourth fight was also a bit of a challenge, mainly because of Raptus' knockback ability throwing tanks off the edge of the arena.

In the end we were able to defeat the Dread Masters, pick up some new gear, and learn some valuable strategies for future fights.

Mission Outcome:Following 2.5 hour deployment into the Dark Zone, kill count stands at 5 players and numerous NPC's. Gear extractions went largely uninterrupted, which is rare enough, and other players encountered were courteous enough when they weren't shooting at us.

Game: Star Wars The Old Republic

Mission Outcome:For our OP this weekend we took a shot at Terror From Beyond, an Op we've made attempts to complete before, but ended up running into time constraints with. In the end, that's also what ended happening here. Despite only having 5 bosses, there is a significant amount of travel done that lengthens the Op. Like last week, we were also forced to pick up 3 pugs to fill out our group.

For those unfamiliar with TFB, this Operation takes place on the planet Asation, a Gree controlled world. After their release from the prison world Belsavis the Dread Masters activate the Gree Hypergate on Asation, unleashing a swarm of monsters from beyond known space on the world.

The first of the boss fights of TFB went fairly easily, as it should have. It's a simple fight that doesn't require much planning or strategy.

The second fight, on the other hand, isn't as simple. Ciphas, Heirad, and Kel'Sara are three commanders in the Dread Master's army, the Dread Guard. Each of them has different abilities and it's necessary to beat them in a certain order while avoiding AOE attacks, as well as debuffs that, if not cleaned cause instant death. In the end we were able to defeat the Dread Guard, despite signs that one of our pugs wasn't quite the team player Ops require...

After the Dread Guard is Operator IX, a massive battle droid built by the Gree to defend their facility. Shielded by an impenetrable forcefield powered by 8 energy nodes, defeating Operator IX requires the team to split into four groups. One member of each of these groups must stand in the middle of the arena while the other deactivates the shields protecting the Energy Nodes/. After all the nodes are destroyed, the fight with Operator IX begins in earnest. It was during this battle that we realized that one of our pugs, rather than just being incompetent, was actively working to sabotage the Op and cause as much grief as possible. In the end, with the agreement of the other two pugs, the malcontent was removed from the group and a new member found. After that, the fight went perfectly.

The final boss we completed, Warlord Kephess was, in a word, easy. Despite being resurrected after his defeat in the Explosive Conflict Op, the strategy for defeating him consisted mainly of dropping heavy rocks on him and beating him up while he was down.

That said, we didn't even get to re-kill the overgrown lizard, who was promptly devoured by the eponymous Terror From Beyond. The Terror is a massive creature, and the first portion of the battle consists of fighting just two of it's tentacles as they reach through the Hypergate. After being driven back, the team was pulled through the gate, where we fought the Terror on a ring of floating platforms.
It was at this point, after a few attempts at the final fight and nearly three hours into the Op, that we decided to call it quits.

That said, I'd like to thank everyone who attended, I certainly had fun and I hope you all did too. I'd also like to remind everyone that the Op for Saturday April 16th will be our old favorite, Karraga's Palace.
