Greetings SFO!

Firstly, I'd like to thank everyone who took part in our SFO Poll in March. The results were both anticipated, yet surprising.

The big shock for me, was the big focus you - the members - would like SFO to make in regards to STO Education. We've already made some progress with this, with the recruitment of Cranker as an Away Team Leader. Cranker will be hosting regular STO Boot Camp Events for inexperienced gamers to help guide them through the nuances of the game. This program will be expanded by SFO Command in the coming weeks, with an aim to improve SFO's in-game education. This will be done in liasion with both Starfleet Academy and the Elite Strike Force, with the hope of providing a full and positive educational experience.

Advice, as always, will be provided on the forum for members who need assistance. Senior figures like Dark are an asset to this community with their practical gaming advice with regards to ship builds and skill sets, and this advice will always be provided. I will be looking to provide far more support for this aspect of our forums, so stay tuned for more details.

The less surprising feedback from the poll was the need to expand our US Timezoned Event Calendar. This has been a reoccurring issue within the STO Divisions, which has been one of the main items I have wanted to improve since I became CO back in December last year. We have taken a bit of a blow, with recently hired US based ATLs having to drop out for various reasons, and the only way we can really provide US coverage is to have US based staff. To that end, I would like to encourage anyone who lives in the US Timezone, and who feels that we need more US events, to step up and become an Away Team Leader, by signing up HERE. We need all the help we can get, and its not just limited to US players, we need anyone who wants to make a difference to our gaming community, regardless of your timezone or country of origin.

Holdings Projects have improved considerably in the last three months, with constant rotation of the projects available in both UFP 1st and UFP 2nd Fleets. On weekends, we expand the usual four to include anywhere from three to six new projects in the additional holdings in both fleets. Recently, we expanded this yet again to include midweek on 1st Fleet. With SFO Staff actively maintaining and monitoring holdings projects in all the active fleets, and making sure that these projects are turning over every twenty-four hours. Whilst it is fair to say that it is still a challenge to donate Fleet Marks, we have made considerable headway towards improving your chances of doing so. I would like to direct members to this guide on gaining Fleet Credits via other methods of donation.

Recruitment, EU Timezoned Events, and Crafting were also raised as items to be concerned with, and these will be worked on. All feedback was taken on board, and we hope to provide as much support as we can in these areas as well.

To Expand a little on Boot Camp, which has been researched and worked on for a while with advice from a lot of people, and the fact that the first few times it has been rather successful, anything from earning EC, FC ect to basic builds, basic skills, doffing, ect. just basics Q & A based on people who just have basic questions or are newly back or newly leveled. So far the time zones have been the biggest obstacle, between EU and US with one getting off work when the other is going to bed, so if anyone has suggestions for time/day let me know. And like Kerry said help is always available on the forums, the best place to go is to post here and there's always plenty of people that will post to help you out.

And I encourage anyone to become an Away Team Leader. Whether it's just a marks event, a fun event, or a special event, there's still lots of days with almost nothing on the calender! Plus it's a great way to start out as a volunteer and a great bunch of people to work with.

I enjoyed my brief stint as an ATL. Sadly life got in the way and I didn't anticipate the difficulty working two jobs on opposite shifts would pose to my social life both in UFP and IRL. I would love to do it again someday but for now I'd like to encourage anybody who has the time and the drive to contribute to do so. It's a lot of fun!
