Dark, if your interested in ground pvp , I can tell you a lot of ppl are using that rifle , I have a copy of it, for PVE, I found better weapons to achieve higher dps if that what you are into, otherwise it's looks. Ok

Too late, at 30 Lobi I couldn't resist. 
Are the higher-DPS PvE weapons similar in functionality to Split Beams, though? I like the reactivity and multi-targeting of the Exploit secondary attack, and the range of the overall weapon since that lets me set up my fabrications and then trigger combat.
My Fed is using the Compression Phaser Rifle because it has the range I like for my Engineers (again, to initiate PvE combat) and it's nice to have him with a Starfleet weapon.
