Yes but it's not terribly fast paced (no twitch, no ability spam) and in theory any matchup is potentially winnable. I just like to view the other team as slightly smarter than usual bots.

It is a PvP-focused game but there is a PvE co-op mode. It doesn't earn as much credits and exp as the regular battle mode but I find the matches much more enjoyable in co-op because the teams usually work together. The recent updates to the AI allow them to take evasive maneuvers against incoming torpedoes and they also take different routes on the maps each time. It is most noticeable with carrier aircraft. Previously, the AI carrier sends it's TBs and DBs to the center of the map at the beginning of every match. Now, they will randomly pick a sector.

Regular battle mode will net you more credits and exp but be prepared for poor teamwork and multi-game losing streaks.

I've had quite a few matches where the team works together. It's the Destroyers i don't like, they always seem to head off at max speed, get killed then blame it on the team. I've found it's mostly the Battleships that work together.

I just watched a BB ram an island hard enough to make the Exxon Valdez cringe and then eat a pair of torpedoes launched by their own teammate. Wins or losses are rarely decided by any one player and it's not hard to get better at the game than the average player because well...see my first sentence. Worst case there are bots and you can always just shoot at those until you've gotten a feel for the basics of the game (infact the game makes you fight bots for the first couple fights)
