Hello everyone,
I'm Dan. I'm another new transfer from the 12th Fleet where I was a Captain (Squad Leader) in Engineering (the general PvE, casual side of the tracks).
My captain is a Science Captain spec'd for ground healing (with reasonable DPS) and space exotic damage, control and a sideline in energy draining. My main ships are the Fleet Scryer, Fleet Pathfinder (Energy and Shield Drain), Wells Temporal Science and Fleet Adv Research Vessel Retrofit (a.k.a THE MIGHTY NEB). I enjoy PvE; mainly STFs and Battlezones.
I'm from the UK, 29 years old and originally from the North West but have been living a more itinerant existence since I left university 5 years ago. I'm a qualified veterinarian and at the moment I'm going to Surrey University to do a Masters course in Veterinary Pathology and Microbiology (moving imminently in fact).
I enjoy sport; such as football, cricket, rugby and I do regular workouts at the gym. I also love a lot of music from classical to rock and even some modern pop occasionally and I like to read in my spare time.
I've loved Star Trek (as well as other Sci-Fi and Fantasy) since I was young. I remember watching The Next Generation episodes when I was younger along with other Sci-Fi classics like Babylon 5 and Dr Who, more recently I've been watching Dark Matter. I also enjoy crime dramas such as NCIS, CSI and Crossing Lines.
My favourite series in Star Trek is Deep Space 9 - I love the blend of adult themes, the more static nature of the station giving some continuity and the depth of the characters. Out of all of the characters I love the bromance between Chief O'Brien and Dr Bashir the most, it really resonates with me and reminds me that simple friendship is often the most powerful thing we can be involved in.
My favourite Star Trek movie is Star Trek VI - The Undiscovered Country. It was the final hurrah (pretty much) for the old crew and I really enjoy the story, the Shakespeare and the restoration of faith in people at the end.
As for games, I've owned the Elite Force games, The Armada series and the Starfleet Command Series. I even played TNG - A Final Unity way back when. However for sheer enjoyment my favourite series in the Sci-Fi genre is the Mass Effect Series - those 3 games gave me a lot of joy and I still indulge in the odd playthrough today.
