Hi Guys, I may not be the first to set myself that question, and I probably will not be the last... but is it me, or do i found the career uniform that Captain Kirk bears ( starfleet Engineering ) is totaly "ingogical" ? 
What I'm trying to say is that Captain Kirk technicaly is an engeneer but i'n not really remember him built stuff or invented stuff on the USS Enterprise. Usaly it's Scotty's job and he is wearing a Tactical Uniform in the late movies. I find this a bit confusing. Personally it would be better that every captain wears the Red Tactical uniform because they are more concerned with tactics, add strategies and give orders. Engineer's i see more like the builders of the federation. The same problem i have with Sulu ( also wearing a Engineering Uniform ) piloting the ship...

In the original Star Trek series, gold uniforms were command, red uniforms were engineering and security, and blue uniforms were science and medical.
In The Next Generation, Deep Space Nine, and Voyager, red uniforms are command, gold uniforms are engineering and security, and blue uniforms are science and medical.

Oh so i see. I don't really see the old Star Trek series, only the movies and started to see the serie's of the The Next Generation. Maby it's wy it feels wierd

Don't worry, even Doctor Bashir was also confused when he went back in time to 2268 during DS9's Trials and Tribble-ations.
