StarTrek.com is saddened to report the passing of Star Trek: Voyager guest star Angela Paton, who died on May 26, 2016 at the age of 86. A versatile character actor, Paton played Aunt Adah in "Caretaker," the Voyager pilot, but was best known for her role as the wonderfully sweet, patient and accomodating Mrs. Lancaster, the innkeeper at the Punxsutawney bed and breakfast Phil Connors (Bill Murray) stayed in Groundhog Day.

Paton's nephew confirmed the news to the Associated Press. Paton died in Oakland, California, where she was in hospice care following a recent heart attack. Her career spanned more than 40 years, and, after starting out on the stage, she amassed film and television credits that, in addition to Voyager and Groundhog Day, included Dirty Harry, Falcon Crest, Flatliners, Quantum Leap, ER, Lolita, The Wedding Singer, Boston Public, The X-Files, Curb Your Enthusiasm, Red Eye and Medium. One of her other best-known roles was that of Grandma to Jason Biggs' character in American Wedding. Her most recent stage appearance was in 2012, in the Broadway production of Harvey.
