I'm thinking about playing an additional game, either Stellaris or Eve. I heard about the good and the great about Eve. I was just wondering if anyone is still playing it? I know it's been around for over 10 years, would it be worth it to start now? Stellaris?

EVE is amazing if you want to invest loads of time into a game, I love EVE myself, but it requires a massive commitment to really get something out of it - I stopped playing due to the fact I didn't feel I could spend the time on it.
Stellaris is regularly played in the UFP, a weekly event is played every Sunday where the game is next event will be next week, once I return from my holiday.

I agree with Adster. I played EVE several years ago, and it was extremely involved. Lord knows how much moreso it is since I last played in 2005. You basically have to treat it as a full time job, which if you have a full time job in order to pay to play EVE - you don't actually have the time to invest in it as you want to.
Mining is the easiest grind possible, but extremely time consuming. Missions are so involved its incredible. Trade is also a nightmare. Frankly, its a game you have to spend about 14-16 hours a day playing to earn enough money to buy the ships you want to enjoy it. Only by the time you've done all that, you're so afraid to take the damn ship out in case someone in Low-Sec/Null-Sec pops it and steals all your expensive gear. Add to that you can get pod-killed, which if you haven't invested in a good clone, you actually loose skills you spent money/time gaining. Skills evolve in actual real time, from 30 mins to 90 days (depending on the skill, its learning penalty, and the level you're trying to achieve).
Stellaris is fun at the moment, and I've been playing it. I know there's been some UFP events for it as well, so if you want to play with others - check it out: Stellaris Event

I used to play EVE back when I had the time. One thing I'll say for it - it's the prettiest space game you'll ever play. I keep wanting to go back for it just to look at the beautiful scenery and amazing spaceships. It's fantastic fun if you know people who play it (or you could try making friends in-game, I suppose!) though can get tedious quickly if you're alone. It also has an enormous learning curve, but once you get the basics the rest of the learning is quite fun!
Stellaris is on my wishlist for when it comes down in price, by which time its popularity will have waned no doubt. Looks good though!

I do wonder how well the mod for Stellaris will play, it'll be interesting to see when they have a version up for release.

If its from the same people who made STA3, it should be pretty good. That mod really changed the way SoaSE is played.

I briefly played Eve and it seemed enjoyable. But as has already been stated you have to put a lot in to get anything real out of it. As for Stellaris I haven't played yet as I am waiting for Infinities to release. Slightly unrelated but wasn't one of the SA3 devs part of UFP?
