Right, CBS/Paramount will not negotiate as long as they believe that the fans don't care. This is the end of Star Trek Fan Films unless you help. If you believe these even some of these "Guidelines" are not fair than do something. Skip the opening weekend of Beyond. Money talks and if we talk loud enough they will listen. They will not kill ST is we take a stand. Its a money maker and they know it. Yes you can make a difference.

Right. Sorry if this sounds a bit abrasive but... well first why is this not in your other boycott thread?

Second. Star Trek Continues. They have said they will continue with their pre-production and release their next episode (which defies some of the guidelines) to test what actually happens. So not change there at the mo and we wait to see what CBS does.

New Voyages. Its been troubled for a while. Ignoring the previous lawsuit they have said its was becoming a burden and was no fun to make.

..the drive for ever more celebrity guests, more special effects and so much special post production and editing the fan films became expensive, time consuming, prone to delays and no long fun for any of the key voulneers...In Autumn 2015 we assessed the trends and decided our new goal was to maintain the sets and studio we were working so hard to complete. We were no longer willing to conduct Kickstarter style crowd funding. Fans no longer donated directly - just perk-laden crowd funding. Jams, Charles and I had identified several options.
The option they chose? Licensed set tours. Yep they teamed up with CBS to offer an official experience. Oh and New Voyages also said:
First of all, CBS/paramount did NOT shut down New Voyages
I don't see how either of these really supports a boycott. Yes the guidelines might suck - or they might drive more creativity in the future. Either way making CBS annoyed at fans doesn't seem like the best approach.

And unfortunately to be blunt, thinking in terms of star trek fans who actually watch or have knowledge of fan films, this is a tiny percentage of star trek fans compared to those who just watch the tv series' or films.
