Say about Rick Berman what you want the ships that were made under his supervision of Star Trek were beautiful.

I thought it was a joke at first, but I'll reserve judgment until the show is aired. I like the creative team they assembled and I'll hold out hope they can do a good job

The design is from Ken Adam (production designer - known for Dr Stronglove and multiple Bond films) & Ralph McQuarrie (concept artist - he who designed Vader/Star Wars stuff etc).

This was the concept artist for the cancelled "Star Trek: Planet of the Titans" ('76-'77 timeframe)

The ship and trailer looks like it was lifted pretty much from his sketches.

Now that I've seen the trailer on a screen bigger than my phone I have to say my initial response remains: Bleech.

When TNG premiered I remember thinking how sleek and futuristic the Enterprise looked (Movie Enterprise was still my favourite as a kid), and was similarly moved with Voyager.

Enterprise felt like a step backwards to me, not just the obvious timeline backwards, but that kind of awkward bit where old somehow looks newer and more advanced. Just never really felt that one.

This one... why? I just don't get it.

At the end of the day it's more about the people, and Star Wars showed that even the ugliest tin can could become iconic, but this does not help with initial impressions.

Plus the idea that they threw it together in 3 weeks knowing that this was happening for years does not instill confidence.

I still have faith, I think this may be one of the best Trek's yet! I may be crazy, but I have a good feeling (Not to mention it is being filmed very close to were I live)

Only time will tell.

haha now that they've heard all the negative feedback. If it wasn't final, why throw it out there? They probably were looking to impress everyone and it backfired.

They probably had only released it do to network pressure and a desire to build some hype. Hopefully there isn't too much fanboy rage and they release something a little more polished in the next couple months.

If that ship makes it into the show, the shorthand would be appropriate. [emoji23]

The subscription requirement already turned me away from this show. That ship would put another nail in the coffin.

I still stand by that stupid sub service as the biggest turn off for me, I can forgive the ship design, I can forgive poor CGI even....but that sub is just a clear money grab no one wanted.

Hate to break it to you, but in the not too distant future, all show will be subscription based. Commercials will be gone, but instead you will have more prominent product placement during the show.

Netflix is less then 10$ a month if i'm not mistaken, in Canada we get it on Crave tv (which I already have). The streaming model also gives them the freedom to do what ever they want, don't have to worry about censors.

If you want to watch Game of Thrones, do you not have to pay for HBO?

OK, I know what I said up there about not hating it as some do.... but I have looked at this again and must say, well, OK, I still don't hate it but I do like it a lot less the second time around. Not sure what they were thinking here, but it could have been much better. Will I still watch it? Yes. I am loyal to Trek and will give it a try.

When I heard about how hard CBS was pressing for a lawsuit,i knew they were going to have a show based during this time period.

On that note, I'll wait for reviews. I'm not at all excited for this.

I did like the tone of the music. I'm expecting some sort of interesting twist on this.
