Saw this article and to be honest it'd be an absolute dream for me if it did happen, what are everyone's thoughts on the News that this was discussed at ST:Vegas???

Amazing! would love to see this happen, not sure it will though, not until the JJ Verse comes to a conclusion.

I would love to know how they bring Data back and how he becomes Captain of the Enterprise (as per prequel comic for 2009 film).

They could even do it as an animation, so only voices are required and send it straight to DVD/ streaming service and I would still pay to see it!

Maybe even a feature series on Star Trek Online?

I would love to see a proper send off for the TNG crew, but I think too much time has passed at this stage, and that caliber of storytelling has fallen by the wayside. I agree with the article on how depressing and terrible Nemesis was and called it a 'franchise killer' at the time.

Thankfully I wasn't entirely right on that one.

Seeing the TNG crew return and tackle something other than 'High speed space aliens with extra lens flare' would be great. With the cast getting much older now, age is something that can be embraced and done well, with Wrath of Khan being a clear example.

Bringing back Data would be easy enough, and give some more screen time to the criminally underused Geordi. Since B4's structure was an apparent prototype to Data, and Data uploaded his memories and experience (His 'Data' heh), the only difference is hardware. Imagine someone from Starfleet contacting Geordi, his best friend, with the great news that they had figured out a way to simply replace some of the positronic circuits in B4 and bring back Data. No space magic, just a good ol' fashioned hardware upgrade.

Now Geordi comes to realization that Starfleet is looking to replace the significantly less useful B4 with his friend Data and comes to the very real conclusion that they don't have the right to take away B4's life for the life of his friend, making it all the more difficult when Data simply shows up later on. Lots of conflict that can be generated with few lines and a couple of camera angles.

Guh, this is why I find it so frustrating that they never went back to the TNG cast. It would be very easy to do a good last TNG movie and wrap it all up in a nice bow, setting the stage for new films and series.

The excretable mess that was Nemesis killed any chance of another TNG film. God knows what the studio was thinking when they appointed that director and then sanctioned its release.

I would love to see another film with Data, Picard, Worf back together - a crossover with DS9/Voy would be good. I would just pretend Nemesis never happened!

On the flipside I don't think I could stand to watch anymore of Troi or Crusher - completely fed up of them (I am currently binge watching the TNG bluray set) and I had forgotten how utterly terrible an actor Gates was. And the less said about Wesley the better.

I really want this to happen, it's feel like proper closure for me on all the franchises and one last big hoorah to what made Star Trek great!!!

I want to bet that if they made a Kickstarter campaign for this it would be fully funded in no time. This way the studio would just need to give their blessing, not funds. I would definitely buy into this! If the niche market that is Veronica Mars fans can create a movie, I would have to think the huge fan base of Trekkies/Trekkers would do very well.

Just a thought, and a hope.

I thought the same thing to be honest.... I'd be well up for putting one together to be honest if I knew I at least had UFPs membership donating a little, I'm sure the rest would come if it was well put together!
