This is a very intriguing free to play model, though I suspect much of the uniqueness comes from just how the EvE universe is built.
EvE doesn't have levels or leveling, and skilling is done passively in real time rather than by grinding up levels in most other MMOs, though I suppose skill injectors add a form of pay to level up faster like how other games (like SOT) have skill boosts, though the most critical factor is that the whole EvE economy is based around the concept that EVERYTHING in game comes from in game, so PLEX and skill boosters don't inject any ISK of skill points into the game, they merely redistribute what's already there. Given the riots over the price of the first cosmetic items, it's very clear golden ammo would likely outright kill EvE.
Given all that, there really aren't that many ways to cut down the experience of free players.

Speaking of getting back into EvE. If anyone does, check out the Arataka Research Consortium.
Drifter runs all the time, and Makoto Priano who runs the whole operation is the best CEO I ever had (and I have a watercolor portrait on my wall to prove it), and drop a mail to Xindi Kraid if you want a half dozen or so cheap T1 frigates (I'm happy to skim some of my production off at cost to people I know).

That picture sums up why I spent less than 24 hours on that game. The game is too grindy and the tutorials seemed lacking to me.

I have played EVE online on and off for years and I usually unsubbed after a month or two. It is a great game visually but trying to get to places was a bit boring, i find warping in STO more favorable than warping in EVE. I don't think you can really play EVE casually, you need to commit to EVE if you really want to get the best out of it. Which i believe is true for most MMO's

Industrials are quite cheap these days. Heck, I have 4 spare Gallente industrials sitting around my hangar. Gallente industrials are generally the better of the main four species, since the Mk 5 can be spec'd out to have 25k+ carrying capacity without rigs.

Only way she could've shot at you then was if you were at war with each other. Even then, having a well equipped defender would've tipped the balance. I have to agree, I would not have considered taking an escort in High-Sec. For mining ops, just having drones deals with 100% of the 'rats' in the belts. So yeah, if she'd declared war on your corp, then she can legitimately shoot you in high-sec, but knowing you were at war with her - having a patrol ship would've been ideal.
