Destination Star Trek Europe 2016 - Photos

Hey All,

I've been asked a couple of times if I have some pictures of the event to share. Whilst yes I do, I have to say mine turned out quite badly. I was reduced to using a very old "point and shoot" digital camera - as my brother stole my decent one. As a result, my photos are not as good as I would've liked.

I've weeded out most of the bad ones, to present to you some of the ones that actually are remotely viewable. I know that Bridger took a few himself, which I hope he shares. I also know that Adster was there as well, so hopefully he has a few he might share as well.

Heh! I remember actually having a few conversations with their team, including the director.

Probably too early to say, might be Germany or London or somewhere else! It'll defiantly be in Europe though, well of course, otherwise it wouldn't be Destination Star Trek Europe! Probably find out somewhere near the start of next year, or when the dust settles from this event. Unless we have someone here who is in the know!

It was held in Birmingham, but was the weekend just gone - sadly, the only event they are doing in Europe :/

Well, the big issues with conventions in Europe is that they're not in America.

Most of the actors live and work in the US - meaning that the travel is considerably arduous for them. Also, as what happened with DSTE, some genius in the US decides to hold their convention at roughly the same time as the EU variant - which means that the actors choose to go to the bigger US events than the pokey little EU ones. DSTE had approximately 10,000 attendees at peak on Saturday, whereas a Vegas convention will get that on opening night, often as not. 50 years of Star Trek was a big deal convention, and although we had a LOT of actors turn up, it was not the big hit I'd been hoping it would be.

Next year is 30 years of TNG - which should bring out a few names from the woodwork. But whether they choose to hold one in the EU, its not clear yet. If they do, it will be no where near as big as a US one, and won't command anywhere near the actors that a US one would.
