It's been a week since the launch of my new ship, the Andromeda. We are currently en route to Starbase 310 at warp 8 for her maiden voyage.
I am becoming better acquainted with her and my new command but I'm still impressed by its size and complexity. She's surely not Voyager and even if it will be almost ten years since I left her it will be a while before I consider this ship as my new home.

I'm still not sure why Admiral Janeway choosen me - a Commander - to be Andromeda's CO. The only thing she has let me know was that I was one of B'Elanna's former engineering team, and it will be useful one day. Maybe she was referring to the recent upgraded warp engines of the refitted Sovereign class, but as I know the Admiral, it will be something more.

Speaking about upgrades, we still don't have tested the new phaser banks and torpedoes. As a person who embraces the Federation's diplomacy principles, I can say that I'm not eager to begin the tests, unlike my Chief Tactical Officer Geoffrey Mandel. We are explorers, but the Federation has been through difficult times the past decades, and we need to be able to defend ourselves.

As for my crew, being under the orders of a Commander doesn't seem to be a problem for them, nor having the brother of the CO onboard. I'm sure they will be Starfleet's finest.

Commander's Log - Supplemental - Stardate 64684.2 - September 7, 2387 - 17:35:31

We have arrived at Starbase 310 a couple of days earlier than expected, thanks to the Bolian expertise of my Chief Engineer Ardran Thesri who finished some adjustments to our warp field. Only 20 days have passed since the ship's launch and I'm already impressed by my engineering team.

I've spoken to the starbase's commander, Admiral LaChance. He informed me that the Andromeda has been assigned to the 16th Fleet, in replacement of the Enterprise-E while she is going under refit. We have obviously some big shoes to fill, but I have complete confidence in my crew.

We are now preparing field tests of our new tactical systems and weapon upgrades. Lieutenant Mandel said we should be ready by 1900 hours.

Commander's Log - PERSONAL - Stardate 64990.8 - December 28, 2387 - 15:24:28

I've just returned from Earth where I spent my shore leave with my brother Tom. I've also met some former members of the Voyager crew and it certainly brings back memories. I didn't have the chance to see this tough little ship again. Maybe next time, with any luck.
This make me think to ask Starfleet to equip the Andromeda with her own Delta Flyer, as I prefer Commander Paris's design to the Eagle.

Three months have passed since I've taken my command. The Andromeda is running at peak efficiency (to Mr. T'Tian's words) and I'm already really proud of my crew. Lt. Commander Dorcan is a fine First Officer, and I know that the ship is in capable hands when I'm not on board.

We will return to Starbase 310 in the evening. Patrolling and charting anomalies is all we have to do in this region, which is utterly calm since the Hobus incident.

Commander's Log - PERSONAL - Stardate 65009.8 - January 4, 2388 - 14:04:59

The Andromeda has returned to Starbase 310 five days ago to celebrate the new year. I'm happy to see that my crew is getting to know each other and I'm beginning to understand Admiral Janeway's point of view when we were on Voyager, even if we're not lost on the other side of the galaxy this time...

Admiral LaChance told me that he has no further news from Admiral Moorey about the Savoy II incident. Cardassian activity has increased in the last few days and I wonder what they're up to, especially Legate Havat. Some rumors circulate on the ship about the fact that the Task Force Omega would join the 16th Fleet. If it's true there will be two Sovereign Class starships on the same area, which would mean that Starfleet takes things really seriously.

In the mean time the Andromeda is standing by. It seems that the year is starting well...

Commander's Log - Stardate 65023.7 - January 9, 2388 - 16:10:50

Rumors were true : we received reports of unwarranted blockades on several peaceful planets near Cardassian space. Three unidentified Galor-class ships are blockading a planet on the Trivas system. The USS Omega, one of the two Galaxy Class ships of the 16th Fleet was sent to investigate and we don't have any news since a week.

Admiral LaChance has ordered the Andromeda to leave Starbase 310 to rendez-vous with her sister ship, the Sovereign, near Deep Space Nine. Then we will go to the Trivas system. I've put the ship on Yellow Alert at the Admiral's recommendation.

I'm looking forward to meet Captain Morris. He and his ship did a tremendous job in the Maelstrom conflict ten years ago, and I'm sure that with them at our side this mission will be quite simple. If we ever have to fight it will be a good opportunity to see the new regenerative shields of the Sovereign, as they have yet to be installed on my ship. But with the Andromeda's new phaser banks and torpedoes we will be complementary.

I have a mission briefing with Lt. Commander Dorcan and my senior staff at 1630 hours to assess the situation and make sure the Andromeda will be ready for her first important mission.

As always, I have complete confidence in my crew, just as they have to me.

We've successfully completed our shipwide system check of both the Andromeda and the Sovereign and we're now en route for the Trivas system. To see our two crews working together was a great pleasure for both Captain Morris and myself, especially Ardran and Brex comparing "their" engines efficiency. I knew that Bolians have a sense of competition...

On a darker note we didn't get any further news from the Galor-class ships nor the Omega. I'm beginning to be concerned by the fate of the latter, as I have some friends serving on that ship.

But whatever happens, I will soon be fixed.

Horror.

Stupor.

What I feared finally happened: we found the Omega's stardrive section, or what's left of it. Multiple hull breaches on almost all decks, the neck torn apart, a missing warp drive as well as the entire saucer section. Perhaps the survivors are in it, as Lieutenant T'Tias scans showed no life signs aboard the derelict section. I've made a preliminary report to Admiral LaChance.

Lieutenants Mandel and Savali concluded that the weapons used to do this were of Cardassian origin, but not an usual one: the signature is similar to standard Cardassian disruptors but mixed with other technology. Captain Morris told me that his chief engineer suggested that they have mixed both Cardassian and Zephan technology. If he's right we're facing serious problems, the Andromeda not having the Sovereign's shields...

As for the Omega's stardrive section, we'll leave it here as it is unsalvageable and drifting towards the Trivas sun were it will be consumed.

But where in the world is the saucer section ? Is the crew safe on board ? Is it hidden somewhere in the system, as both the Andromeda and the Sovereign are unable to locate it ? So much questions...

Questions that will have to wait for now : we have to face the ships that did this, and I have the feeling that they are the three Galor class waiting near Trivas III.
