Mission: Hydra Sector Patrol

Mission Summary

After departing Starbase 253, the USS Sovereign began a patrol of the Hydra sector to protect the Federation mining outposts in the region. There have been several instances of piracy and unprovoked attacks in the region, from an unknown faction, which Starfleet Intelligence has proposed is linked to the new Cardassian Empire. The Sovereign's return to the sector along with the rest of Task Force Omega is to show that Starfleet won't back down in this sector, especially after the losses culminated during the original expansion in this region.

Mission Progression

After 5 days on patrol, nothing major has really cropped up. The Sovereign arrived at the abandoned mining colony and is now in the progress of investigating what exactly happened. The situation is certainly bizarre, the away team reported that it was like everyone was taken in the middle of their duties without any warning whatsoever. The station itself, from the scans conducted by the Sovereign, seems to still be intact with very little signs of weapons discharge, confusing the situation even more. The Sovereign will depart within the next day, prior to the that Admiral Moorey ordered the USS Canberra, a Nebula-class vessel to return to the mining colony and continue the investigation whilst the Sovereign continues onto the next objective - the missing mining freighter.
