The closed beta of the newest entry to the Tom Clancy series of games is here from February 3rd to February 6th. I was one of the lucky recipients of an invite from Ubisoft. Anyone else here is participating? I noticed a few people on my friends list received invites already. [emoji1]

I played the closed beta on Xbox One. It's gonna be a great game in terms of open world conflict. But, it's not the old Ghost Recons.

Open beta is starting February 23rd and ends on the 27th. Pre-load has already started.
The landscape looks impressive. The fact that you can drive almost any vehicle reminds me of the GTA series, though the driving physics of ground vehicles in Wildlands feels clunky and needs work. Same goes for aircrafts too, though it doesn't help that I suck at flying.

I wanted to like this game during the beta but to me it just feels very generic and bland.
I think I may play once the game is in a more complete state or I get a good deal on it.
No way I could solo the game. It'd be entirely way too boring.

Well, I played the Open Beta and found it pretty fun.
For me, the Pros:
- My character actually SPEAKS. I hated that the Division made me a mime and mute.
- Enjoyed the shooting action. It was a little different than the Division, but enjoyed the stealth options.
- Your AI Team banter. This was by far one of my more favorite things. The idle chitchat among you and the team. Jokes were pretty funny or the reactions to them.
- Environment felt pretty alive. Weather, Day/Night, etc.
- Parachuting. Found myself trashing numerous helicopters just to skydive.
- Story was enjoyable thus far. I felt a connection and need to what I needed to be doing.
Pros:
- Enemy AI are incredibly accurate. Even with my first sniper shot (silenced) they knew exactly where I was and laid down too accurate of fire.
- Enemy reinforcements suffered from the old GTA maximum effect. Meaning, that 2-3 reinforcement spawns would all slam into one another to their rally point. Kind of crazy and reminded me of GTA a lot. If I'm a ghost, should have a better way to avoid that fast of an escalation.
- Ground vehicle controls were wonky and felt too sensitive. Driving was a lesson in correction and over-correction just to correction your steering even more. With all of the switch backs to drive up, I often just looked for a helicopter or fast traveled.
- Crossing "borders" meant death (after 15 seconds). No bueno when your hijack target crossed into one or you are getting shot at from a SAM site that you can't defended against or fire at.
There are probably more things I could say or add, but overall, I enjoyed it so much that I am actually looking forward to playing it at release.

I personally enjoyed the open beta that I played over the weekend. It seemed very promising and to be frank I found my self laughing a few times. Mainly because I was driving a van over rocks up the side of a mountain and it very much reminded me of GTA. So to be honest I'm not complaining very much.
The Enemy AI surprised me. I was up on a hill and was shooting down sniping and they found where I was. It was quite impressive.
I like when the enemy knows what they are doing and actually works on getting to me instead of being idiots and running around. In my own opinion it creates a challenge that I very much enjoy.

I enjoyed the open beta as well. I had a fun time in the APC I took from the cartel. The AI is actually quite competent at finding your position if you shoot at a group of them. They most won't find you if you kill lone targets, I actually wiped out an entire base by picking them off one by one with a sniper rifle or using sync shots, and then clearing up the remaining 3 or 4 targets with my AI squad.

Oh... Sync Shots! I absolute loved that feature. Really made me feel like I was an elite team of operatives. When you get the Level 3 of that, then executing it is just amazing. One of the best features of the team commands.
A few times, to test things out, I found various places with an ammo crate to turtle. Then poked the Unidad hornets to get them riled up. I will say, they have some pretty solid AI tactics. When they get enough troops, they will surround your position, then assault you. If that fails, their helicopter gunships will keep you away from windows and openings with fire (gun and missiles especially). Splash damage from a missile hitting a wall is just as deadly. Those guys are tough, and just not because they are wearing heavy body armor.
A new con that I remembered about. I started to hate *always* having to be the chauffeur. In the ARMA games, you could have the AI drive for you. In Wildlands, I always had to drive and never could have fun on the gun turret. In the survey, I actually mentioned that I got tired of "Driving Miss Daisy" and said I wanted to be "Miss Daisy on the gun mount"... sometimes.

The sync shot is pretty awesome I have to admit. The helicopters are frustrating haha. I was trying to land my chopper on an airfield to do the FOB mission and we landed on one that had ton's of guys well we flew away and the helicopter chased us haha. We got our butt's kicked to say the least.
I do like how you can do missions your own way though. I like the fact that you can go in hot with guns blazing or you can go in with a sniper rifle sit on the side of a mountain and kick some butt that way.
It's going to be interesting to see how Ubisoft releases the game though. To see if the servers can handle the stress of everyone on launch day.

I only go guns blazing if there's a small group of enemies or I set some rebels free. Otherwise I go for stealth kills. The APC is quite fun though, they can be quite helpful in taking down almost everything, even helicopters.
