Commander's Log - USS Michael J. Caruso
Commanding Officer: Prov. Lieutenant Christopher R. Fuentes-Padilla
Initial Entry:
Well, today is the day. The USS Michael J. Caruso is finally up and I know Senior would love to have seen it. When he recruited me and the others into Starfleet, he believed it would be the best idea he ever came up with. After his tragic death, I feel sorry to say, my experiences so far in Starfleet have been empty. When I selected my Officers, I knew that I had to select Mike Jr. Senior would have killed me if I didn't. Needless to say Senior still controls my every action. I hope this experience as Captain is the driving force in Junior's, and I guess, my life.
We've been told to stay docked and at the ready for anything. They are preparing a Command Briefing for us in a couple of hours. I can only hope for a simple mission. But since the "Incident" at the Academy, I can't bring myself to ease about going back into battle.
I am, however, more concerned about my command and the effects it might have on my family. My sister, Ensign Cordova-Padilla is on board, she managed to get Admiral Marcus to reassign her from the Academy to my ship. Of all people, I assumed Admiral Marcus to understand how dangerous this was. Somehow, in some way she got him to reassign her. Everyday since her assignment as Chief Counselor, I have wondered: "What are her intentions? Why was she reassigned? Was it the mission? Was it my inability to lead? Is this a test?" All of these question cloud my judgement on whether to resist clicking that button and accepting her onto the crew or to reassign her to the Spacedock.

Commander's Log - USS Michael J. Caruso
Commanding Officer: Prov. Lieutenant Christopher R. Fuentes-Padilla
Supplemental Log #02172017-B
BEGIN ENTRY......
The command briefing allowed some insight into my personal issues regarding my sister's mysterious reassignment. Admiral Marcus selected us for a very delicate mission, the Federation News Service, a fairly new command of the Starfleet Administrative Bureau, decided it would be nice to document the actions of the New Romulan Empire's Soliders after Starfleet Tactical trained them to defend their home world from rather rebellious thugs in their outlying villages. We are tasked with escorting them to the planet and for the duration of their stay, providing security for the film crew and their administrative assistant.
What came to my concern was the reason my sister was reassigned from the academy. Admiral Marcus was punishing her for a "misuse of Starfleet Training for a personal gain". He refused to give me further information. When I requested her reassignment to another command before our depature, I was ordered to allow her on board and to make her acting Chief Counselor. While this angered me, I was reasserted to find out why this film crew was so important. I've come to relise throughout my Starfleet Career that nothing is what it seems.
My instincts tell me more is at play here. I intend to interview each Crewman on that "FNS Film Team" and I've already order the Security Officers to scan their equipment for weapons and anything else they didn't disclose. I don't want to walk in to New Romulus and find out that the Admiral has me escorting a Military Unit into a Hostile Environment. He's known for keeping Captains out of the loop on Operations.
