I have a Heavy Cruiser Retrofit (T5U) and I really like Constellation class skin options. The thing is, that thing it is so old, I'm finding it difficult to justify it's existence in the current timeline.
Any ideas as to why Starfleet would still be using such an old ship? I read somewhere that is is so old just just does supply missions and stuff like that. Maybe since the Iconian War Starfleet needs every ship in the fleet?
It just helps my personal playstyle/RP/head-canon thing if all of the pieces fit logically.
That is why it is hard for me to fly my favorite Olympic class. I play a mission and they say it's war! WAR! Let's go to a big battle, and I show up in my Olympic class. *meep *meep Or they want me to patrol a sector. Why would you send a research vessel to patrol?

I always tell myself with all the Wars star fleet has fought, ship yards can't keep up. As a result, work around is that they recommision old ships and outfit them with new tech in half the time it takes to build a new one.

It's stated... hell, somewhere, that much of Starfleet's ship construction is modular these days. So the spaceframe's design might be older than dirt, but most of the stuff under the skin is going to be newer than you might think. Does that help?

With things like the NX and Connie floating around I'd say it makes the Constellation look middle aged and still has some youth to it lol.

When Starfleet would retire a ship there was already an option for an outside company or person to purchase the ship and use or for their own purposes, whether that was cargo or security. Could be that your not in Starfleet but you're someone who convinced Starfleet to sell it to you for one reason or another. They would have stripped classified stuff, but it would have worked. Just a thought.
