That's a good explanation, I guess it also explains why they put up with the Moclans.

It seems to be "weaker" than the Federation by only having 3000 ships with over 300 Member Worlds compared to the Federation with 150 Members and 10.000s of ships. The way I look at the Union at the moment is that they are like the Federation before they had contact with the Borg and the Dominion. Righ now they can deal with the thread of the Krill but are as outmatched to the Kaylon as the Federation was when they met the Borg.

I would not be surprised if they start deloping ships like the Defiant and Prometheus very soon.

3.) Lastly, why do I feel the Moclan's will leave and eventually become adversaries of the Union, while the Krill End up becoming Allies, if so, that is some damn fine writing.

It is possible but I don't think this will happen anytime soon with the Kaylon thread number one.

Well as the episode last night showed, the Krill relations might be happening sooner than later. Nothing brings two conflicting species together closer than a third party (Kaylon) trying to wipe them all out. After all, before the Kaylon thing happened Admiral Halsey did say things weren't going well with the Krill conflicts and being devastated like that will mean changes.
Of course, I'll be wanting to see the fallout from all of this, as I'm sure anything further than a temporary truce won't be an easy thing to accomplish, especially if the Krill inter-fight amongst themselves. (Religion tends to do that.) But that's just the writer in me hoping for storylines because I want more seasons of the show.

Yet speaking of fallout, good gods that battle scene from Identity part 2. I got BSG and DS9 x 1000 vibes from it. I truly can say The Orville is no longer a parody, it's the best damn homage to Star Trek and even sci-fi in general.

Just finished Pt. 2 of Identity. Pretty good, nice battle. I'm not sure I like how quickly they forgave Isaac though.

The more I watch the show the more I see parallels to Voyager.

I thought the resolution was a little "The magic transporter saved the day." Sort of a rushed, feel-good finish. Maybe they could have gone Red Dwarf and stored his head on a shelf while they worked to install safeguards, like The 3 Laws. Then you run up against the premise of a slave race and lack of free will again. Still, they shouldn't have been so forgiving of his sudden but inevitable betrayal.

For the uninitiated:
The Krill are what you get when the Cardassians and the Bajorans have kids. But, you know, evil.
The Kaylons are the Borg crossed with the Founders. Not evil, indifferent. Nothing malicious, just genocidally practical.
And the ship's pilot can SING! oof!

The Orville continues to impress me. The camera work and scene staging are getting noticeably better. I'm especially enjoying the very Star Trek like transitions back into the show after commercial breaks and between scenes. Panning over the ship before resuming the story is looking more and more TNG-like. Special effects are really improving! Inside the ship, I believe that the lighting has been adjusted down a bit, giving everything a more believable, realistic feel.

Everything seems more polished now, as the show leans more heavily into the "Star Trek" of it all, and eliminates the parody aspect for more situationally appropriate humor. I'm very happy with the direction that The Orville is heading this season!

Though predictable, I did very much enjoy this week's episode. The cast is awesome, and has great chemistry with one another. It was very enjoyable to watch, as always!
