Bahaha, Three you have good taste in KB/M. I wanted to get EGB, but my pockets couldn't quite afford it. Though I too have heard of the RGB frame rates increasing (individual results may vary). MX Browns for life!!

I have heard the Steam Controller does really well with games such as Civilisations and Rocket League, how does it perform for FPS and RTS

So far, I was only using it for STO. It feels really good on ground maps. In space I have worked out a system to match the colours of the keys to their function. So Blue for Science, Yellow for Engineering, Red for Tactical, Green for Aux powers with various switches to move through the different power trays. And the unique feature of the Steam Controller compared to Xbox for example is that you can use it as a mouse pad when needed. So I can basically switch target by mouse if switching by key does not work properly.

But as far as I read through this thread it is basically decided which keyboard to use, especially in which colour theme. Would love to try keyboard and mouse some time, but then I would need a desk as well because I only play in the living room in front of the TV.

I dont use my SC (steam controller) for STO but it is a dam fine controller IMO, takes a bit to get used to the trackpads but once you do , no looking back.

Keyboard: Logitech G510

I've never been so particular about gaming that I felt a need to have mechanical keys, so I have been using this one for years. I'm a little more gadgety and less performance-y, so the G510 is a good fit for me. Primitive RGB backlights, interactive LCD, media playback/volume controls, headphone/mic extension ports, on-the-fly macro recording, on-the-fly configuration swapping allowing for 54 total programmable keys and a bunch of other little features make the thing potentially pretty versatile. I am probably going to be looking for a replacement soon though since my spacebar is getting a little wonky due to wear from disproportionately using the le9ft side only, (*cough*thanks-STO*cough*).

Mouse: Logitech G700s

I have grown so used to the 15 buttons/reprogrammable inputs and the weighted free spinning mouse wheel that it's difficult for me to efficiently function without them. That's okay though since several profiles can be stored on the mouse itself allowing them to be used on multiple computers without any supporting software being installed. The laser is very precise and I have never experienced any lag when using the mouse wirelessly.

Keypad: Razer Orbweaver

Why a keypad on top of the absurdly configurable keyboard mouse combo and why not Logitech again? Well, a few reasons:

1. I want the wrist support. Keypads are better than keyboards and the Orbweaver was the best at the time. the Logitech G13 was a little spread out for my hand, which leads to #2

2. Having a pad that forces my hand into position makes using the rows of G keys down the left side of my keyboard easier to use. I have to lift my hand to get to many of them even when WASDing it on the keyboard. There is no finger fumbling back into position when using a keypad. It's similar to moving one's right hand back and forth between the keyboard number pad and a mouse.

3. Simpler to set up and use. I said I liked lots of features and gizmos, but all of the configurable features offered by the G13 on top of what is already available on my keyboard and mouse is just too much.

Things I don't like/care about:

It's green. Very green. Only green. Always green.

The keys are VERY LOUD CLICKITY-CLICK MECHANICAL KEYS. They do have a short throw. I don't remember the specs, but it feels like less than half distance. I'm not so twitchy that I care about bottoming out, but I can appreciate the quality.
