With Rear Admiral Bondgaget76's fairly recent appointment to the Starfleet Academy CO spot, a surplus of positive changes have come to the Academy. One such such change are the new rank billets that the cadets receive when they enter the Academy. Bondgadget76 explains in greater detail below:

The New Cadet ranks have now successfully been re-introduced and tested. These cadet ranks will be put along side your current ranks. These will hopefully bring back a sense of belonging for the academy and will also hopefully let cadets know who is in the same stages that they are.
The ranks that are being introduced are:
Academy Cadet
Command Student
Note that the names may be different for the ranks when they are underneath your current ranks.
There is also going to be a graduating ranks which will be introduced with these ranks. From what has been decided i can release that there will be a graduation rank for graduating the Academy and also the Command School.
If you pass all of the Academy section, which is the gaming course and the entrance exam, you will graduate with a rank of
Chief Petty Officer. For Graduating the Command School, which is the Admin courses and the Command Course you will be given a graduating Rank of
Ensign, making you a commissioned officer
