I liked the episode, though it was a bit slower than the previous entries. Burnham continues to be unlikable.
There seems to be a lot of things getting set up in this outing however. Lots of questions about Lorca and his past, what's going to become of the Admiral and what Kol is planning to do next.

Great video that is.
People whining about the tech all being messed up in DSC tend to forget a lot of instances of it already occurring in canon.

So are we calling The Animated Series canon or not? last I checked, it wasn't supposed to be canon (or I'd have brought up shield belts as an argument to people claiming Starfleet didn't have forcefields at that time)
I know OTHER civilizations had holographic technology, but the holodeck was treated as something new for Starfleet ships in TNG (which means TAS is ignored). Certainly in Enterprise, all the proper holodecks they showed were on ships of other species, the stuff they had on the Enterprise were a start, but not a fully baked simulation.

The Holodecks from TNG was the first to make use of Advanced Artificial Intelligence (with a few becoming Sentient, IE The Doctor and Moriarty), Transporters, Replicated matter, and Force Fields in combination to create a totally immersive and realistic simulated environment, something that had only been seen previously in Enterprise on an alien ship.
For all intents and purposes, the Holodecks on the Enterprise-D was the first of their kind, yes, but not the first time Holography had been used.
