While it being a modern take on http://memory-alpha.wikia.com/wiki/C...fect_(episode), I still really enjoyed it.
We had some interesting character development, I also really enjoyed the scenes with Lt. Stamets. I think he and Micheal will develop a relationship similar to the Doctor and Seven on Voyager, with him acting as her mentor into humanity.

As per usual. The episode preview for this one was total BS. After seeing that, I was worried we'd have some high octane, summer blockbuster version of Cause and Effect.
The actual episode turned out to be pretty good, and it might be the one I've most enjoyed so far, though I think after all the running around through the ship trying to stop Mudd, it's a bit of a letdown that in the loop where they do stop him, all the prep work is montage.
As for Mudd's time travel ship/device/thing; I don't think it's the most egregious space magic we've seen from Star trek, but it's very close. Par for the course of time travel stories, they tend to require you to go "yeah, sure" to the plot device anyway.
Well, the free month of CBS I got when I tried to cancel my free week is up, so no more Star Trek Discovery for me. I'd like to keep watching, but CBS doesn't have much of anything to offer aside from it, so I'd rather pay one of the streaming companies that have several show I'd like to watch.

I really liked that episode. A much more Trek feel to in and a nice new twist on the old "stuck in a time-loop" episode we all know and love from the previous shows.
Harry Mudd really is a piece of work in this show but at least they went with an ending that could potentially leave him open as a semi-recurring character.
Those time crystals though.....hmmmm.....a race that is 4-dimensional....Tholians? They have always seemed to be involved in timey-wimey wibbly-wobbly stuff, with the suggestion they are some sort of strange inter-dimensional type species.

Although the time crystals thing was a bit far fetched I enjoyed the fact they had some space fauna in the episode, something that didn’t involve shooting everybody until the end and a trial

The episode also highlighted Lorca's attitude towards general duties and exploration, which was also sorta funny to see. "Don't care, go for it!". He's a full on military captain. It was also funny to see the different type of deaths Mudd gave him in each loop - which was so similar to edge of tomorrow style.
It was a good floater episode I guess - I'm personally hoping to see more episode aimed towards the actual story due to the limited number of episodes in a season.

I have really grown fond of the series, and this episode, whilst I don’t think it is my favourite, was still really good. I am now starting to enjoy all the characters, and the overall story. It’s just a shame that I have to pretend that it isn’t where it is in the timeline. I am very happy to keep watching the show though, just wish it wasn’t the mid season finale next week!

Never mind, just did some research and the next episode is the second to last for this half season.

I still found it quite a "meh" episode, there's still far too much focus on one character, which is not the sort of thing I want to watch. Although, unlike previous episodes, this one does atleast work on its own, you can just go back and watch this one.

Yeah a good stand alone episode. Sometimes the whole massive plot arc style of some modern Trek stuff gets a bit clumsy and you need stuff like this to get a break from it.
Me personally, I do not really care for the Klingon war story, it’s boring and just a rehash of DS9’s later series really.
But the stand along eps and those exploring the science of the new drive are far more interesting.

For me, it was very 'meh'. I could take it or leave it.
I disliked that the majority of the episode was focused on whether Michael actually likes the new guy. Big freaking whoop.
Lorca's becoming a better character than Michael is. Hell, even the whacky CEO has more depth than Burnham.
I did like that Mudd was the main villain in this piece - as he was a bit of a comic relief character in TOS. The cheeky rascal type. On this show, he's a depraved psychopath who enjoys inflicting pain and suffering (Like Three does).
The preview for next week looks interesting though, so we'll see.
I'd be delighted to offer any advice I have on understanding women. When I have some, I'll let you know.
