Total baking time: 1,720 minutes or 28 hours and 40 minutes per Omega Tech (minimum, if you babysit your R&D).

You're close. A sliver is made from one each R/B/Y, not three, so 27 of each color to make a Tech.

That's pretty much close to give an idea of the resources required + time to get one shard. Which begs the question if you'd rather upgrade anyway, grind time away still on Omega (disputable, if you're gonna sell them on exchange later), or wait for upgrade weekends with 0 dilithium cost.

It is 3 Omega Traces per Silver, so it goes from 3 of each to 3 total, the final tally is cut by 2/3. It is 27 of each Trace per Omega Tech. That sounds so much better.

But the time doesn't change. It's still about 29 hours for 1 Omega Tech. You might be able to fudge it by a few minutes if you max out each step of the process, but getting enough Fragments (90) to do 30 Techs at once? Then waiting 100 hours for them to finish? That's over 4 days just for the last step and 810 of each Trace.

They ain't worth the hassle. Just do the Romulan Admiralty missions. Less hassle.

Well you can always just farm a shed load of traces (or buy them from the Ex) and run the crafting projects all year. There's no time limit for them so if you have tonnes to grind down into omega upgrades just treat it as a daily task like dilithium refinement, doffing, admiralty.
At least that's how i play it anyway. No point trying to get the fastest return off them as it's designed from the start to be a massive grind-fest timegate.

This. Totally. They Re worth the effort in the long run. Especially if you want to upgrade low Mk into high Mk. Use them on an upgrade weekend for sure!

I’ve largely been ignoring the omega grind this time around, then last night I discover there’s an upgrade weekend next week.

Now I feel like I have to do it. But dilithium grinding is on the cards for tonight before anything else. Got 11 days worth of ore last night in about 2 hours over 2 characters thanks to marks and the Dyson ground battle zone.

I have more dilithium VIP vouchers than i could ever possibly use and i wish i could give them to fleetmates to make use of them. They really should be trade-able, massive untapped riches there!

I have over 600,000 raw DIL. I got no grinding to do. I got 27 of each Trace on the daily run. If you have other stuff to do, just let the minigame run in the background. You get 1 Trace no matter what.

It's true that you get 1 no matter what, which means this is a relatively easy grind as it allows you to do anything else within every 50 seconds. Buuuuuut, I have found that using a Space map and focusing, if you can get the score past 1700 (or maybe 2K), then a Sliver may drop as well. Granted, the minigame success does depend on the quality of the PC, mouse and/or connection *rolleyes*

For my part, I counsel making the effort to score the game if you can likely get more than 1 Fragment. My current grind is to work to get 27 of each color and then move on to other projects ... like getting batteries for the colony

I try to aim for around 1700-2000 if i'm playing sensibly. That way you are pretty much guaranteed a sliver and if lucky even a shard. It'll cut back the time to grind them down to an upgrade a fair bit if you manage that regularly.

But find a nice quiet place to do it though. Some of the high traffic areas have lots of that good old Cryptic lag which really plays havoc with the minigame.
