As for the ending, I'm guessing Pike has just recently taken over from Robert April, as Pike only commanded the Enterprise for 8-10 years before Kirk, and they have stated we are 10 years or so before he takes command. At which point Spock joins his crew as science officer, I don't know. However given the reaction Sarek and Micheal gave, I would assume he is there now.

Since DISCO plays in 2356 the events ot the Cage happened already two years ago and with the jump in time of 9 months we are already in the year 2357.

the only thing I liked about this episode was Lorca getting stoned and the Enterprise showing up at least it was Pike at the end, Now is Spock on the enterprise yet? I also am thinking that it was the crappy writing as to why they had the Enterprise show up just to try and save the episode. I am curious as to why the Discovery met up with the Enterprise because of the distress call she didn't look at all damaged.

There could be any number of reasons for the distress call, given the current state of the Federation. A third of the fleet is gone, every major outpost outside the Sol system has been destroyed.

Adding the Enterprise was fan service, It could have easily been any other Starfleet ship. It will be interesting to see how long the Enterprise sticks around. I suspect not more then an episode or two.

I think they also wanted to get the Enterprise in the story so they could be done with all the fans asking about where it is.

I have not watched "The Cage" in years, I will need to watch it again soon and refresh my memory.

Best episode of Star Trek since "The Cage". Could not have wrapped up this season better.

Also did not expect my favorite line of the season to be, "First, I'm really high."

It was ok-ish episode rather week compared to the latest episodes the only real highlight was the Enterprise.

Personally, I like her with the curly hair and the stupid attitude, reminds me of someone I know very well, except they aren't ginger and don't have curly hair.

Personally I’ve liked the slant on discovery, because it’s different it’s refreshing - and if you take the season as a whole it does hold true to the Star Trek of Old’s values but with a modern twist to it - let’s face it a Star Trek of old was never going to be put on our screens and at least they’ve thrown generous amounts of money at this so I’d call it a success. I think the story arc as been made more predictable by the fact they had too much story to very few episodes. Played out over another 5 episodes it would probably make more sense but again I’m still pleased with what’s happened.

i think I quite like Burnham as a character, and I think the arc of the story around her is interesting as it provides perspective - if it was too broad and too much was going on and each character had to play their own little arcs in the war to the same extent it may lack content and lore and it may have disjointed so I like the approach to that too.

personally I hated the fact the enterprise has shown up this early to be honest just to pay fan service because it means they’re probably going to have to include it early on in season 2, I was hoping to foray into realms not explored in this timeframe such as the cardassians, Romulans and Klingons become very same same.

enterprise remake - FIT however I loved that - the old models sucked on new TV they looked like my 18 month old daughter designed them with some loo roll tubes so I like the refresh it makes it more current.

my biggest gripe???? Nothing to do with the show itself - it’s actually the fact that we are going to have to wait till 2019 to see a new episode the way they are talking, may as well cancel Netflix for now hadn’t I?! Can’t believe they’ve done so well to attract so many people to the franchise and then are going to make everyone wait 12 months - it’s not very clever at all and people will forget. I hope they change their minds but I’m guessing they won’t which makes me angry.

however I’m committed to rewatching the series again I’ve enjoyed it that much!!! I think it is important to remember amongst the grippers and moaners that old Trek by definition of DISCO being a success means it is dead - and by the way, what happened to a follow up movie to Beyond? That’s gone a bit too quiet for my liking! It has proven one other thing by DISCO being a success, old fans and new fans alike both prefer Canon Star Trek - not Abrahms Trek!

I'm really hoping that future seasons won't be as dark as we've seen in the first season and they can get back to exploration. I found it overall engaging and I'm wondering if they'll continue with the pattern of a single story arc, or start to have more stand alone episodes. I'm not happy about the fact that Emperor Georgiou is now at large and is very likely to do damage to the Federation in the future. They still haven't resolved how the spore drive is no longer a thing by the timeline of the next Star Trek series, so I'm hoping that will become explained better in the next season.

I have definitely enjoyed the latter half of the season. As they are on their way to Vulcan (before being rudely interrupted by the USS Enterprise) to pick up their new Captain, perhaps we willl have a Vulcan Captain next season. Or maybe the Vulcans have found and rehabilitated Prime Lorca...
