In the PC of my Grandmother I am running a 1060 6GB as well it is more than enough for STO.

While the 1070 TI Founders Edition cooling is not the best the price is still normal at €469,00.

this game isn't demanding at all when I first started I was using and old 560ti , but I blew out a fan on it that card had no problems at all running this game then I bought a AMD 7770 a really cheap card ran this game no problems but then I got the itch when the AMD RX480s came out so I bought a 8 gb RX480 had huge problems with it because of the drivers returned it upgraded the card still had issues with the driver not telling the cards fan to turn on but after a few driver updates it works great I can play any games.
but back on topic . my Nephew bought the rx 460 I believe it was he plays Wow no problems . so a 1060 nvid card would definitely have no issues playing most games and unless you are using a very good monitor that is lie 144hz + you really dont need any card better then a 1060
really dont need a 100watt PSu unless you are hugely OCing things and mining

my system is an old system that plays any games I thow at it with out any issues my specs are
i5 2500k OCed to 4.5Ghz 750w PSU RX480 8 Gb vid card SSD 5 HDs one is a 1TB SSDHD which I install most my games on 16 Gb ram this system has been running non stop since I reinstalled my RX480 AMD card CPU is cooled with old school water cool and has a pretty big water res. I use my LED 55inch TV for main video like my games and a 27inch LCd for other screen that shows my vid co=nvering torrents and email which I need to watch for my work.
again this game isn't really that demanding my system has never been hotter them 75c but thats because I have allot of things running including downloads in the back ground and slowly converting video files

I currently run a GTX 970 on my pc which I had upgraded to when Black Desert Online came out, and to this day it works for every mmo released. I'm not sure about whether it would work for VR, but it's probably a lot cheaper by now.

A GTX 970 will probably run VR, just not that well, from what I have read, that's the minimum you should have if you want VR.

I just replaced my MSI GTX 970 Gaming 4 with a MSI GTX1080Ti Gaming X and I'm gob smacked by the performance increase. It is expensive but I will not upgrade it for at least five years. When looking into the price per performance the 1070 GTX was 40% more powerful that my old graphics card. As someone above mentioned check the power supply as I believe the 1070 card required 180w but it needs a minimum of 500 watt power supply.

My GTX 970 did run my Oculus VR but the faster card keeps the frame rate at 90fps per eye where as the GTX 970 on occasions would drop to 45fps per eye and this could lead to feeling sick but I grew used to that after a couple of weeks (it wore off I guess). I used mine mainly for ♥♥♥♥pit flying like DCS world or Elite dangerous.

Yeah, it's because of the filter being based on partial fill for words, we need to get around to doing a review of the filter

But currently I have a GTX 980TI that I got a few years back in a sale, it was quite a nice offer, about 50% off the standard price, and still cheaper than it's currently going for. It's still powerful enough to cope with games that are coming out, so I would assume the 1080TI would be the same. For me, I think the only real upgrade options are 1070, 1080 and 1080TI, but there's no point for me to consider upgrading yet!

That website calculates my build as needing at least 517w, recommends 617w, but says 750w would be best.

The 1080 G1 is working out brilliantly so far. The Gigabyte Aoros software is a tad twitchy, but the hardware itself is making a huge difference.

I've been running GPU-Z to track the card temperatures - it seems that the fans don't kick in fully on the 1080's until they reach about 60 degrees and otherwise stay more or less idle and so far a maxed out STO and Fallout 4 haven't pushed the card past 49 degrees. That's a good 15-20 lower than my old 780 TI which had the fans running at about 60% to maintain that.

I'll have to keep my eye out for new releases in the months ahead to push it a bit harder and see what it can do.

befire I would buy a new Video card I would wait a little while to see what happens with the Bit coin Mining craze , the price of video cards is dropping a little right now and by the looks of thing will drop even more . just after I bought my 8 Gb rx 480 video card I had allot of people PMing me through a different sites forums offering almost double the price I payed and I almost went for it but then looked at the price of Video cards and new ones actually sis double in proce so I didn't go for it because I would have actually lost money
