Hi,

getting back into action and aside from trying to figure out what all the million buttons do on my toolbars, I'm also trying to figure out how my build is now considering there have been quite a few changes to the game.

Some questions:

- What is this Experimental Weapons slot, I don't remember that being there before?
- How are my weapon and console choices looking?
- How do specialization skills work again, can you just unlock them all? I can't seem to remember
- Any advice in general on how to proceed with this build?

Any tips or feedback is very much appreciated. Not even sure how viable this build is these days. It wasn't the top thing back when I played but it sure was fun.

Quick answers:

- Quick build thoughts: I am not a Cannoneer, so others will need to chime in there, but looking at your consoles, I have the following recommendation: Those Science consoles are near garbage now. Replace them with almost anything else. There is a plethora of options and will need further discussion later.

- Specialization Skills: you pick a Primary and Secondary. Having a "function" for your ship helps narrow down choices. You CAN have every skill, but will only be able to use the ones for the trees selected. - This is all I have at-a-glance. How married are you to Plasma weapons? Are you wanting MAXDEEPS, or a more canon-esque build? What's your budget: are you willing to spend money for this build or looking for more "free" options?

If we are talking EC I don't mind spending, if we are talking Euro then I'd rather not spent any right now.

Not married to plasma weapons, just liked the idea of a cannon bird and those were good at the time. Would happily go for other options, just don't know what to go for.

The difference between the Energy types is very small, if you have them keep them.

I saw those, great for when building a beam ship but they look quite different from my 5/2 warbird. Maybe it's time I go beams as well, but I'd rather do that on a federation toon. I have quite a few T6 ships available which I assume will still be usable today.

Look at the Defiant Build

I agree with Bridger: if you like Plasma then you can stick to it. Same for Cannons, especially if you are going for a themed ship.

The trick, I think, will be filling up those Sci consoles. Frankly, the Defiant build Bridger suggests looks really good as a goal, but modifying necessary parts that support phaser weapons for stuff that boosts plasma.

That Defiant has -EVERYTHING- different from what I have. I expected to face several changes, but this will be a complete rebuild. I don't even know where to start. It looks like it will cost billions too. All traits seemt to be from lobi too. I have a fair amount of ships with traits, and quite a bit of zen to by some new ships if needed, but it still seems like I won't get nowhere near that example build.
Thanks for the input, but it actually demotivates me to see how crap my ship is now that I carefully build up and the insane amount of money it will need to make it work again. There is probably a more achievable midrange version of this, but finding that info has always been a weak point of this game and sites that used to be active with builds look like ghost towns, can't find any relevant recent example build guide, save for this Defiant build which is absolutely out of my budget.

Indeed a lot has changed, but it won't be that hard to adapt.

For now you can keep running the Iconian Set or the old Nukara/Romulan Combo (Nukara Deflector/Shield with Romulan Engines).

Emergency Weapon Cycle is from the Arbiter Battle Cruiser / Kurak Battlecruiser / Morrigu Heavy Warbird.

Cold-Hearted is from the Breen Plesh Tral Heavy Raider the latest Winter Event Ship.

Promise of Ferocity is an alternative for the Go for the Kill Trait and you can get it from the Allied Pilot Escort Bundle.

PS: The Defiant is a min/max build so you don't have to follow it 1:1

Wasn't there for the winter event, so will have to find something else for that.

I can definitely get Promise of Ferocity. Is the full package worth getting or should I just get the single tactical escort that gives me the trait and leave the rest be?

They will add it to the Phoenix Box, so there is always a chance to get but it is only helpful with an A2B build

It is very useful, if you run other faction characters I would follow the rule of never break a pack.
