As interesting as they are... if the Klingons are a half-done faction, and the Romulans not truly their own faction, I don't see why they would put the work into the Cardassians to be a full faction.

My pragmatic gamer instinct is screaming that they will be like the Romulans. A very good first ten levels of cardassian story (insert True Way instead of Tal Shiar), then you decide to join Starfleet or the Klingon Empire.

That in and of itself bothers me a little, as ok, I can understand the Federation/Starfleet. But in the DS9 series, it seemed the Klingons really hated Cardassians. I could have interrupted that wrong, but why would the Empire allow a "weaker" people into their ranks?

I hope I am completely wrong and the new playable race/faction can truly stand on their own.

See the thing is, Cardassians would have fit in well in the same scenario that Romulans have...I mean in a lot of ways they would be the exact same...faction starting out anew.

Where the Republic had the Tal Shiar the Cardassians have the True Way...while the Republic splintered off to build a new home the Cardassians are rebuilding from the aftermath of the Dominion war. One of the main points I've seen people argue against this was asking why would Cardassians align with the Klingons when they didn't like each other, well obviously Cryptic doesn't have a problem with that since the Cardassians are available to them too.

The good thing is that you will be able to make more accurate looking Cardassians than shown on the press picture.

I notice they were coloring the spoon based on fed/kdf on choice I think. If you look at the purchase packages you can see the kdf one has red on his spoon likewise with the fed one we saw having blue. I don't think they were caring about lore or marketing department didnt cared either. Eh, whatever.

Related to cardie being a buying option, I can see it being similar to Remans of Romulans, which of course you could just flat out buying them if you didnt want to wait for rep to finish. If you complete the reputation you could unlock the Remans. If there is another reputation, which I wouldn't put it past them, we might be able to unlock cardie from it. Just a speculation though.

Oh side note. Not sure if anyone else feels this way, but seeing a cardie in a federation outfit just seems... strange haha. With that, I really hope they release their uniforms or casual wear.

BTW, Cardies are not only a paid race. The very first blog post of the Gamma Package deals is from a member of Cryptic, indicating that Cardies will have another way to play than just that.

You only need to pay to play Cardie for Federation or Klingon. Like I also said in the other thread, very likely we're going to be getting a Cardie faction for at least level 60, like Jem. Though because they aren't saying it is only Cardie, it does leave me wondering what this group is going to be exactly.
