Why not indeed? I know you've got these weapons, had 'em for years, so the cost-to-acquire isn't an issue. Their damage type is well-supported, proc just doesn't happen enough to be a deciding factor, and quite honestly (correct me if I'm wrong), you want to use them.
So yeah, use them.

I re-rolled a Beam into [CrtD]x3 [Spiral] (or [Dmg]x2) the other day and was very unlucky along the way.. I'm waiting on this weekend to see what it'll take to get to Epic.
I dunno man, I'm still on the fence with these because I have started enjoying Phasers lately.

For ~3% more than S-L weapons, yeah pretty much. I've been wracking my head how to use them and keep the "phaser" look and it all boils down to a sacrifice (as I would know it) in one way or another. At least for me.
Frankly, I'm getting mentally tired of thinking about it. At least procs have been marginalized to the point of them being a non-issue.

Why not just use Phasers if you want the look? They're 2nd best, and have the nice trilithium bonus.
