Ok, I'm now going to show my age a little by saying that I remember being a Web Designer back in 2001 and using dial up. We got 4k per second if we were lucky. The day we got Broadband and it went up to 2 Mbps per second, we thought it was Christmas and celebrated by streaming the trailer for Final Fantasy, the spirits within. I'm glad that where I live in rural Canada, we do have cable but it's throttled by how much you pay. I think right now I have a 150 Mbps connection with unlimited data which is three times the speed I had when I lived in North Wales.

I think right now I have a 150 Mbps connection with unlimited data which is three times the speed I had when I lived in North Wales.
150Mbps is three times the speed I can actually get in my area. Currently having 50Mbps and that is great for where I live in Germany.

Them where the days yes? I remember starting out on a 56K modem in the first week of 2000. It was a couple of years before Broadband was even commercially available and I think we got it in our area around 2004, we were rural. Going from the 56K to 1Mb broadband was like night and day. I got it upgraded for free a couple of times, first to 2Mb, then it got bounced to 8Mb.
It was a couple of years after the last upgrade that BT Infinity became available, that got me to 40Mb and later 80Mb. Broadband to fibre optic was as much of an eye opening leap as 56k to Broadband was.
Now I'm in a urban area, we're on Virgin Media (Sky internet services are terrible) and we've got a 200Mb fibre connection. I could get the 300+ service, but as we're hoping to move next year, we've not bothered upping it again.
