At the risk of Scarlett going off on one, while the Excelsior class is a lovely ship and arguably the most iconic of the non-hero ships because of how often it was seen and the T5 version was very popular, the T6 Resolute class counterpart isn’t all that. It’s very heavy on the engineering side of things and there’s any number of other ships that could do the job (Guardian Class springs to mind for a start) and that makes it just a bit... meh.

The ship was always Eng-heavy though. There are statistically "better" ships out there, yet the T6 Command seat being LtC is an overlooked strength. With the Fleet version having 4 Tac consoles, they can bring some firepower to the LtC Tac seat as well.
I do not believe you could use it with the standard meta right now; there are simply better ships for DPS, hands down.
SO, I believe people (like me) fly the ship for it's looks more than it's abilities. And frankly, it's rarity in the game is also an appealing aspect for my game.
Having said that, one would need to accept that they will not output damage similar to a Flagship (as an example) and therefore try to fill a role other than superheavy tank.
But I digress because in a few hours, MY SHIP WILL LOOK MORE AWESOME THAN EVERYONE ELSE'S IN THE GALAXY
