I think the point is that, aesthetically, it is an option several will take gleefully. Especially since leveling in STO is relatively, and comically, a quick endeavor.

The rifle sounds like a nice aesthetic option, especially since the only other option is a lobi weapon, but it's a sniper and I'm not a huge fan of those. Prefer full-autos or split beams. Inventory slots are great too. On that note, investing in the elite starter pack if you're struggling for space is well worth it.

This pack would seem to point towards them not doing a big ship pack this time around - I imagine they would've had it up for sale by now if they were - and to be honest, I'm glad of that. I'd rather see the content being spread out a bit in the weeks and months ahead. Roll on the Shepard class!

Good point about ship packs. Frankly, I can imagine the ship artists going "yo man, we need a break this round", while the brains that figures out seating arrangement has gone on a hella-vacation.

The “better ship” argument is very relative. Not everyone is trying to do max DPS and some of us like the idea of using the same ship through the story as part of our head canon.

So while you may feel the tokens get you a better ship, not all of us define a “better ship” by DPS.

To quote a conversation for the TNG episode Relics:

I actually just spotted on Reddit that Kael has said there's no big pack for this release, but they've one more thing in the pipeline that they'll be giving details of on Monday.

If I was to hazard a guess, we'll probably be seeing the first T6 Discovery era ship enter the C-Store on launch day.

Why do a ship pack when the Discovery ships are in lockboxes which they can make more money off if people buy zen to try their luck instead of a one off payment? =P

At 750 Zen, this is an instant buy. I'm a bit of an Alt-o-holic, so I'm happy having another low-level ship to fly.

It’s not just a ship. The Bank Slots are worth 300 alone, vanity pets are usually another 300, a T4 ship is 1500, and I think a 150k boost pack is another 600.

Plus you’re getting the reclaimable discovery weapons that you can upgrade plus a console and admiralty card.

The only reason I'm not jumping right on this is because I decided I was gonna hit pause for a bit on purchases after the Recon and Support 2-packs. I'm not huge on DSC (only because I haven't watch the show that's all), so basically I'm kind of letting demand catch up with supply for me, if that makes sense.
