Well, this is going to make Personal Endeavors a little more tedious.

My first thought exactly! Now I'm going to have to actually DO missions and TFOs. UGH!
This is the real reason. They saw that everybody was heading to the Foundry to short-cut the Personal Endeavors. YEAH!

The only personal Endeavor I ever had to use The Foundry for was the Tzenkethi ground.

The one statement that I completely take issue with is this one:

"the legacy knowledge required to maintain the Foundry at our quality standards is no longer available"

I understand that it was a "side project", I get that especially after spending hours talking with the DEV's but it's seriously not difficult to pass on knowledge to willing teammates. If you are going to include code within your game that is for the general population then you need to do so appropriately and responsibly.

To me there are a good number of missions in STO, but once you get done with them thats about it for me, yes there are STF's and other a few other minor things but those get stale quite quickly and just like the Klingons long ago, it has been left to the passage of time.

Unfortunatly, it's not as simple as "Bob did this code, let's go buy it off him", STO has quite a complicated history, it could even have been the people at Perpetual Entertainment who coded the foundry, before STO was bought by Cryptic. Without having all the facts, it's not easy to say, the only thing that is known is that the code is old, and hard for the current team of devs to work with.

The ideal solution would be to work on a new foundry, with new procedures in place.

I completely agree and would love to see such a thing. However I doubt it will happen.

Some of the foundry missions were better than the actual missions in terms of story and mechanics. I'm sad to see the foundry go. Although I can always visit DS9 and chat up Admiral Marconi if I ever want to reminisce about the old foundry days.

I sometimes feel for Kael, it's not easy being the face of stupid decisions, especially ones that impact people's enjoyment of a game that's starved for content at Endgame. So now we have to run TFOs and rerun episodes ad nauseam. *slow clap* well done Cryptic.

I don't quite see that. If I have to, say bag 10 Tholian ships, it's no different doing it in the Foundry, or just queuing up a mission that has Tholians in it, and blowing the crap out of those.

If only they would. But it'd probably be an absolute grind fest full of microtransactions. It's unsettling that they introduced a bundle I. The cstore to give 10 featured TFO reward tokens. So, not so much pay to win but pay to be lazy. Next it'll be selling packs to instantly get rep to level 6.

I'm surprised they haven't started selling leveling tokens, WoW and ToR have been doing it for a while now.
