Actually...

The Dyson Reputation is not the best example:
- ground/space passive crit severity (16-20crtd)
- ground defiance skill (+% bonus all damage and heal+all resists when activated at low HP)
- mandatory reputation gear for torpedo-only builds that use photons (and are majorly tacs)
- tactical advantage trait (space/ground) - increases armor penetration as target's health decreases - which acts similarly to the Terran Advanced energy weapons which are the best dps item in the game. (((I do forget about those passive bonuses that come along with at least T5 Reps)))

I think for the typical tactical build the only reputation that you could happily skip would be the lukari or the delta. Those two are hard marks to get and they don't really award key components for tacs. (((My usual practice, at least till now, had just been trying to run through enough TFOs/Randoms to complete all the daily mark bonuses for the day)))

The rest are key components to a solid tactical build.

You can complete them at your own pace, but all of them got solid goodies you shouldn't miss. (((Sort of have to now don't I if I ever want to make use of my marks)))

I've tested the new system personally and it's way better. You can ditch your hundreds of marks in a single swipe and turn them to dil. (((That was never questioned nor stated as a negative it wasn't even in my " " as my focused concern I think it is funny how some people keep citing that as an example as everything else seems automatically okay)))

Thesr guys are doing efforts to make this game better. And it is getting better. It just creates some limitation that's not a paywall. A paywall is a hardcoded system that blocks progress unless you pay up with real money - which is not the case here.

(((I'd say the definition of a paywall is something that you have to pay/invest into for access to something which is the very case here, I had access to convert my marks prior to this change & now I don't till I achieve T5 in each Rep, real money has nothing to do with the definition it is the requirement for payment for access, I think in most things STO gets better or at least parellel but there are somethings where it takes a couple of steps back too)))

I'll have to adapt my play style, especially any future beginning characters, since Cryptic very rarely changes things back. Cryptic changed with that recent Discovery pack but even then after stating about that tardigrade would be for account-wide too I don't think that happened. Oh well. It’s definitely not a pay wall though. You aren’t paying or investing for an access.

Also, you want to convert marks to dilithium but not level to T5? You do realize you’re missing in lots of dilithium simply by not leveling reputations to T5? Some reputations give as much as 32,500 dilithium upon hitting T5.

If it is an intel tactical slot, I suggest to reconfigure the layout slightly to fit in Surgical Strikes.

Surgical Strikes require Lieutenant Commander or Commander slots. On a tactical boff, that means sacrificing CSV3 or CRF2. Has Surgical Strikes received any buff lately?

I ment exclusively on the ensign tac slot - where klw usually rests. What could be better that klw after the last update?

FaW1, Torp: Spread 1, Distributed Targeting 1.
With my two ENS slots, I'm loaded with Distributed Targeting 1 and Tactical Team 1.
But that's because I also have FaW2, KLW3, Hold Together 1, Cannons: RF2, and Reinforcements Squadron 3.
I also run no torpedoes, I use cannons instead.
Don't run level 1 subsystem targeting. They'll kill your [Dmg] boosters - like FaW or C:RF.

But then, what do I know? I don't even track my deeps.

Well one of things is, replace it if you feel it’s worth it.

I’m personally a beams guy. I find SS better than beam overload. In combination with the now buffed DEM it does great. So I’m running SS3 +DEM3+EPW2 as a combo. Then again I do this on intel assault cruiser with intel sci ltcmdr seating.

See the problem with Kemo is that it is the filler for the Ensign Slot, because there is nothing better.
