For some, this may come as no surprise given our recent poll in the member surveys areas but for others this is the start of a grand event of which is very rare within the fleet and we haven't actually had something like this for several years now.
Starfleet Command has decided to set up a Fleet-wide competition with the details that I'll post below and the chance for any one of you to win a prize, if you win or are a runner up of course...Everyone loves a bit of competition from time to time, some say it's healthy and others say it's excruciatingly exciting; whichever one that applies to you this new competition is for you.
This competition is for everyone (with the exemption of Starfleet Command) to be able to take part and the aim of the competition has been kept to the widest possible audience. So without further background information I shall introduce it. 
- The Aim of the competition is to design both a new logo for the Starfleet Operations division (Star Trek Online) and a new logo for the Starfleet Reserves division (Various). The winning logos design will then be professionally implemented by our Graphics Artist Fleet Admiral John Hathaway!
- Please make your submissions to Vice Admiral LynxMukka by Private Message. Various forms are accepted, preferably in JPGs but accepting other file formats including PSD, EPS and AI. Scanned images are allowed but no 3D file formats please.
- The closing date for the Competition is on the 31st of December 2010 and the winning entries will be announced in the new year.
This is definitely a chance for you guys to use your creative side to leave a lasting impact on the fleet. It doesn't matter whether you're a skilled Photoshopper or a beginner, it's the design of the logo that counts!
If that isn't motivation enough, the winner will be receiving a prestigious Star Trek themed prize (maybe a copy of Star Trek Online perhaps?) and the runner up will also receive a Star Trek themed present. You'll have to wait and see exactly but needless to say they'll be worth something. 
Terms & Conditions
Entries will be judged by members of Starfleet Command, they are exempt from entering the competition. Copyright to the final published logo is held by {UFP} Fleet, design credits will of course go to the winner. Prizes will not be exchangeable for monetary funds instead.

The only flaw I see for this is that many people don't have Photoshop.

People can make submissions of a drawing of there desgin and submitt it after scanning the image. Therefore, a computor is not completly needed. Not to mention those who do want to use Photoshop can download a free trial version which lasts 30 days.

I don't have a scanner, plus I have already used the 30 day trial for Photoshop.

I don't have a scanner, plus I have already used the 30 day trial for Photoshop.
A camera will do fine, or a camera phone etc. The design is the main aim, so if you can demonstrate a style which is clearly working well, that will be the winner.
