...um...not to complain, but how does refreshing yet another Fed ship model have anything to do with "The Year of Klingon"? Nothing against adding other stuff, but we had the big announcement and refreshed content back at the end of June, but since then we've only had 1 new Klingon ship, and every other faction got a new ship too with that one.
Year of the Klingon is sadly a joke...probably made to get people excited while not actually delivering much other than the Discovery Klingon story that we would have gotten anyways.

That and probably the eventual sale of a Legendary Klingon ship pack

For a moment I thought maybe they were going to launch a Discovery Klingon sub faction...but more and more the year of the Klingon feels like little more than a false sense of hope that the KDF will get any significant attention.

    Interesting.

I thought the Nebula already got a new model when the Sutherland came out. I'm guessing this is just someone's pet project as I don't see how they can sell any other variants of this ship.
This has been done by @donnyviperSTO, he's one of the ship artists at Cryptic, referred to by thomasmarrone as "the keeper of the Galaxy Kingdom these days". He also either did or at least had a hand in the Discoprise and Discovery D-7 models, but he also does stuff in his spare time as a hobby.

As for variants, I'll lay good odds we'll see a Nebula Bundle appear much like the Akira one they pushed out earlier this year.

At this point I expect a Klingon legendary bundle somewhere down the list...just after Jem'Hadar...and Andorian...and Caitian...and Vulcan...and Federation legendary bundle 2...and oh yeah we probably need a ground legendary bundle of some sort for good measure too. Facepalm

Nothing against Fed ships, but shopping for a FED design vs. KDF design is like shopping for an Android phone vs. an Apple phone. Infinite diversity in infinite combinations, or a choice of a few very similar "good" options plus the also-ran models of yesteryear. There's an "elegant simplicity" to KDF ship shopping, but I could go for a few more kitbash options.

Either a side gig or maybe it was easier to do since it would use similar techniques that gave us the remodeled Galaxy class... otherwise it would probably be an effort to keep the large Federation fanbase happy. Idk..

Perhaps. I guess I see it as more of questioning the release strategy. I imagine Cryptic is hunkered down and trying to remaster the second promised wave of Klingon intro content as well as the next mission or two of the current arc. I have no doubt that is a massive time commitment for all hands right now. I just think it would be maybe a better strategy to deal out the episode remastering in smaller chunks more often instead of tweaking a few visual elements and stats on ships over and over. New ships are fun for a minute, but unless the ship has a trait or console that becomes the new meta for your build, the choice between 1 T6 and another of a given ship type is usually small and is as much about space barbie as anything. Specific ships themselves rarely are considered truly meta for most types of builds.

This is rather exciting. The Nebula was a favourite of mine for a long while. I remember doing the Deferi arc for the first time with it all those years ago. Glad to see more models getting a remaster!

The big thing is 'what can we bring out that brings in money'... and sadly, content does not bring in any (direct) money... If it was a monthly subscription, maybe, then you want to keep your players coming back. But all the hardcore addicts (like me) have got a lifetime sub already. The income model is purely lootboxes and ships now, it seems. I'd love to be able to reward new content or more interesting ground maps with my wallet, but its not even an option.

Oh well. Everything must come to an end sometime, I guess.

even when it was a monthly sub, content wasn't cranked out as fast as it has been in F2P (at least in my opinion, and I've been playing/watching development since Friends and Family Alpha)
